• Travelxp HD to unveil webisodes, mobisodes at Mipcom

    MUMBAI: High definition (HD) travel channel Travelxp HD will be unveiling webisodes and mobisodes at content market forum Mipcom 2012 in Cannes this month.

    This is apart from announcing several new shows as per the planned production of 150 hours of high quality HD content in the lifestyle travel genre.

    Travelxp HD announces an ambitious target of producing 2000 webisodes specific to the lifestyle travel content, which viewers will be able to stream and on their PCs and mobile devices anytime anywhere.

    Travelxp Managing Director Nisha Chothani said, "travelxp HD‘s linear broadcast service which will see launches across the globe in South Asia, Middle East, Europe, USA and Canadian markets later this year. In addition, we have been syndicating content from our strong 400 + hours of high quality HD travel content to broadcasters, VOD platforms, airlines and other content platforms.

    "Video consumption on mobile and connected devices has been growing significantly over the past couple of years and we see this becoming a major consumption platform and medium for content consumption. In line with this, we have started production content which suits and fits the habits on these platforms. We expect to have over 2000 webisodes ready by next summer."

    Travelxp HD has been in production since the last four years and has over 5000 hours of raw HD footage spanning across 40+ countries. With over 400 hours and exponential increasing travel footage, the channel aims to capture the travel market with 1200 hours of prime HD broadcast content by 2015.

  • RGH partners Ameba for its animated children series

    MUMBAI: With the aim to boost its North American audience exposure for its animated children‘s series Ben and Izzy, RGH Entertainment has entered into a promising content partnership with Ameba, a multi-platform company in the children‘s streaming TV market.

    At this month‘s television trade event Mipcom 2012 in Cannes, Ameba will be exhibiting and meeting with distributors and rights holders from 8-11 October.

    ‘Ben and Izzy‘ is a CGI-animated action-adventure comedy series currently enjoying a successful run on Cartoon Network Arabia, and as in-flight entertainment on Emirates and Qatar Airlines.

    RGH‘s flagship property follows two inquisitive eleven-year-old boys, Ben, an American, and Izzy, a Jordanian, as they journey alongside their archaeologist grandfathers to ancient times and landmarks throughout the Middle East and Africa. Cultural explorations and comedy abound.

    RGH CEO Randa Ayoubi said, "We are pleased to be partnering with Ameba to deliver Ben and Izzy through today‘s hottest digital platforms.     All 13 episodes of Ben and Izzy will be available to Ameba subscribers in English. The English version features the voices of several Hollywood celebrities, including Lucy Liu, the voice of Viper in the blockbuster movie Kung Fu Panda, and Mark Hamill, who played Luke Skywalker in the original Star Wars trilogy.

  • Dubuc, Burnett to deliver keynotes at Mipcom

    MUMBAI: History, Lifetime Networks president, GM Nancy Dubuc and One Three Media president Mark Burnett will deliver Media Mastermind keynote addresses at the television trade event Mipcom 2012, organised by Reed Midem in Cannes, France.

    The event takes place from 8-11 October.

    Since 2010, Dubuc has spearheaded the resurgence of Lifetime Networks as a premiere entertainment brand, introducing a new look and tagline "Your life. Your time", expanding its original programming to ratings success with movies, dramas and unscripted series.

    The list includes Project Runway, Army Wives and Drop Dead Diva, Dubuc launched series and movies, including the cultural phenomenon, Dance Moms; Lifetime‘s most-watched series launch since 2009, The Client List, starring and executive produced by Jennifer Love Hewitt; and basic cable‘s most watched original movie premiere in two years, Drew Peterson: Untouchable, starring Rob Lowe.

    Burnett has produced over 2,200 hours of television programming which regularly airs in over 70 countries worldwide. Current network series produced by Burnett and One Three Media, his joint venture with media conglomerate Hearst Corporation include ‘Survivor‘ (CBS), ‘The Voice‘ (NBC), ‘The Celebrity Apprentice‘ (NBC), ‘Shark Tank‘ (ABC), ‘Stars Earn Stripes‘ (NBC) and ‘The Job‘ (CBS).

    Burnett also has a strong presence in award show franchises, having produced The MTV Movie Awards since 2007 and The People‘s Choice Awards, The Video Game Awards (Spike) and also produced The 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards, in 2011.

    In addition to producing network and cable television series, One Three Media is focusing on media content, producing events around that content, and spinning off television shows and other programming based on Hearst brands. One Three Media has also entered the scripted series business with the hiring of longtime HBO executive Anne Thomopoulos, whose credits includeRome (HBO), Generation Kill (HBO) and Camelot (Starz).

    Burnett is currently producing a 10 hour docu-drama series on The Bible with his wife, actress and producer Roma Downey, which will air on History next year, with One Three distributing the series for first-run international television. One Three and Burnett are also joining forces with Oscar-winning director James Cameron to co-create Discovery‘s upcoming new series Robogeddon.
