• Abbe Raven, Nancy Dubuc promoted at A+E Networks

    MUMBAI: US broadcaster A+E Networks has promoted Nancy Dubuc to president, CEO. She has become the third CEO in the company?s nearly 30-year history.

    Dubuc will oversee the day-to-day operations of the company, with the brand groups and business divisions reporting to her. She was formerly president, entertainment and media. Abbe Raven who was president, CEO since March 2005 will be elevated to the newly created position of A+E Networks chairman. She will spearhead A+E Networks? long-term business and revenue opportunities, as well as public policy initiatives, and serve as corporate strategic adviser.

    In India the company runs History TV18 through its JV with TV18. The announcement was made by the A+E Networks? board of directors - led by Disney Media Networks co-chairman Anne Sweeney and Hearst president and COO Steven Swartz. Raven will report directly to the company?s board and Dubuc will report both to Raven and the board. Their new roles are effective from 1 June.

    Sweeney and Swartz jointly said, "A+E Networks is the global media powerhouse it is today because of Abbe?s leadership and vision. Abbe and Nancy have enjoyed one of the most successful partnerships in our business. Together, over the last several years, they have built some of the strongest brands in media. We look forward to the company?s next chapter as Abbe becomes chairman and Nancy steps into her expanded new role as president and CEO and leads the company into the future."

    Raven said, "I am delighted that our next president and CEO have been chosen from within our own ranks once again.   • Mipcom announces more names for its 'Women In Global Entertainment Power Lunch'

    MUMBAI: Television trade event Mipcom has announced four internationally-renowned women executives to headline its inaugural "Women in Global Entertainment Power Lunch." Mipcom takes place next month in Cannes, France.

    A+E Networks president, Entertainment and Media Nancy Dubuc, 20th Century Fox International Television president Marion Edwards; BSkyB MD Entertainment, News and Broadcast Operations Sophie Turner Laing and Russia Today editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan are thje panellists.

    The panelists will be introduced and moderated by The Hollywood Reporter contributing editor Elizabeth Guider.

    In partnership with Lifetime Networks, the invitation only networking event will bring together 150 of the most influential women executives from international television and entertainment on 8 October.

  • Dubuc, Burnett to deliver keynotes at Mipcom

    MUMBAI: History, Lifetime Networks president, GM Nancy Dubuc and One Three Media president Mark Burnett will deliver Media Mastermind keynote addresses at the television trade event Mipcom 2012, organised by Reed Midem in Cannes, France.

    The event takes place from 8-11 October.

    Since 2010, Dubuc has spearheaded the resurgence of Lifetime Networks as a premiere entertainment brand, introducing a new look and tagline "Your life. Your time", expanding its original programming to ratings success with movies, dramas and unscripted series.

    The list includes Project Runway, Army Wives and Drop Dead Diva, Dubuc launched series and movies, including the cultural phenomenon, Dance Moms; Lifetime‘s most-watched series launch since 2009, The Client List, starring and executive produced by Jennifer Love Hewitt; and basic cable‘s most watched original movie premiere in two years, Drew Peterson: Untouchable, starring Rob Lowe.

    Burnett has produced over 2,200 hours of television programming which regularly airs in over 70 countries worldwide. Current network series produced by Burnett and One Three Media, his joint venture with media conglomerate Hearst Corporation include ‘Survivor‘ (CBS), ‘The Voice‘ (NBC), ‘The Celebrity Apprentice‘ (NBC), ‘Shark Tank‘ (ABC), ‘Stars Earn Stripes‘ (NBC) and ‘The Job‘ (CBS).

    Burnett also has a strong presence in award show franchises, having produced The MTV Movie Awards since 2007 and The People‘s Choice Awards, The Video Game Awards (Spike) and also produced The 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards, in 2011.

    In addition to producing network and cable television series, One Three Media is focusing on media content, producing events around that content, and spinning off television shows and other programming based on Hearst brands. One Three Media has also entered the scripted series business with the hiring of longtime HBO executive Anne Thomopoulos, whose credits includeRome (HBO), Generation Kill (HBO) and Camelot (Starz).

    Burnett is currently producing a 10 hour docu-drama series on The Bible with his wife, actress and producer Roma Downey, which will air on History next year, with One Three distributing the series for first-run international television. One Three and Burnett are also joining forces with Oscar-winning director James Cameron to co-create Discovery‘s upcoming new series Robogeddon.
