CANNES: The buyers arrived in droves to MipCom 2003. With one day left for the market to close, Reed Midem disclosed that the number of programme buyers were up from 2724 in 2002 to 2823 in 2003.
"That's a good growth of four per cent," says Reed Midem's director of TV division Paul Johnson. He explains, "It is an indicator of the health of the industry - that people are interested in buying more after a slack period."
Johnson expects the number to go up further today and tomorrow when the market closes.
