MUMBAI: Inside Comedy, the new comedy documentary series from comedian David Steinberg and Steve Carell will kick off on 26 January 2012 on US cable network Showtime.

The 10 half-hour episodes feature Steinberg interviewing comedians such as Chris Rock, Ellen DeGeneres and Jerry Seinfeld, to comedians of the past five decades such as Mel Brooks, Don Rickles and Jonathan Winters, as they share career-defining moments, personal struggles and the idols that inspired them, in an uncensored and hilarious one-on-one format.

Carell and Steinberg will serve as executive producers alongside Vance DeGeneres and Charlie Hartsock for Carousel Productions, and Alan Zweibel serving as creative consultant. Steinberg will also direct all ten episodes.

The show commemorates the inspirations and influences of comedians over the last few decades by capturing never-before-heard anecdotes and intimate memories from pioneers Mel Brooks, Tim Conway, Carl Reiner, Don Rickles and Jonathan Winters; to Billy Crystal, Garry Shandling, Martin Short, Robin Williams and Steven Wright; to Larry David, Chris Rock, Jerry Seinfeld; to Ellen DeGeneres, Brad Garrett, Kathy Griffin, Jane Lynch, Sarah Silverman and Carell.
