This week, we have something special for the bibliophiles, sustainable fashion, and the ultimate way to indulge in the rains with designer umbrellas

    Bibliophile?s treasure:

In this era of digitisation, it is a novel site to see millionaires rejoice over the sight of writing instruments which their favourite authors had once used. Such was the case in the recently held Paul Smith Pencil auctions. The Secret Life of Pencil is a charity that exhibits and auctions pencils or photographic prints of them belonging to iconic writers, authors and artistes.

The humble pencil enjoyed some limelight through its photographic prints that is as individualistic as fingerprints of the artist. Each one helps you draw inference about the character of the owner. As per Luxpresso.com, Stephen Fry, David Bailey, Sir Quentin Blake, Tom Dixon, Mike Leigh, Philippe Stark, Paul Smith and 52 other famous owners showcased their pencils at this auction. Apart from these limited edition pencils, the auction also featured a concept car sketched by Jaguar Chief Designer Ian Callum that showcased his love of the 4B pencil, hand-carved pencils from Anish Kapoor and Pam Hogg, a unique sketch from Paul Smith and a one-off large Solander presentation box containing prints of all 52 participants. It will be available for online auction through Paddle8 as well.

    Fashion goes green:

The recently held EcoChic Awards 2015-16 set a new benchmark in sustainable fashion in its fifth year and reached Indian shores. Ensemble, along with Hong Kong-based charity organisation Redress, introduced the award to the Indian designers at their multi-designer store in the city. Co-hosted by Ensemble executive director Tina Tahiliani Parikh and Christina Dean of Redress, the event saw an overwhelming support by IMG Lakme Fashion Week. It also witnessed an insightful journey of eco-friendly fashion in the presence of sustainable fashion designer and expert Paromita Banerjee.

Tina Tahiliani Parikh was later heard saying, ?We have always promoted new talent and I feel that this is a great platform to find young designers who are also dedicated to sustainable fashion.?

According to luxpresso.com, EcoChic Design Award aims to create high fashion couture pieces with minimal waste. Following the online application, which closes on 15 August 2015, 10 selected finalists from Asia and Europe will present their sustainable collections at the Hong Kong Fashion Week in January 2016 and the first prize grants an opportunity to design a new up-cycled collection for the leading luxury brand, Shanghai Tang. Additionally, the best Indian designer applicant for the eco challenge will get an opportunity to showcase at IMG?s Lakm? Fashion Week that will be held in August 2015.

    Be Rain Ready:

The last couple of weeks saw Mumbai groaning under the constant downpours of monsoon. It?s time to stop complaining about the incessant rains and embrace it with some rain-appropriate accessories. Umbrellas not only protect your designer clothes from rain and shine, they are a remarkable fashion accessory as well that can do wonders to your image. Not just that, owning a branded umbrella or parasols as called by many, has been a symbol of class and luxury from ages. A recent research by The Richest website listed some of the popular high end umbrella brands, mostly Italian manufactured. It included Channel (their vintage collection is to die for), ?Pasotti? by Italian Umbrella with Swarovski Crystals costing USD $360, Hermes ?Pluie de H? that can make your wallet lighter by USD $485, Alexandra MC Queen umbrella with skull handle ($568) and Swaine Adeney Brigg by Malacca Flask Umbrella for Men (USD $1,270).

Money can?t buy you happiness but it can surely buy the means to keep you happy. And for those with an eclectic taste in lifestyle, happiness often means being able to indulge in their passions. From antique collections, luxury rides, limited editions ranges, to auctions that the world have their eyes on, Exec Lifestyle gives you a sneak peek into the uber lifestyle.

This week, we bring you luxury accessories inspired by macabre, new eye shadow from Giorgio Armani, and new luxurious way to camp.

    Bagging the skulls:

Just when you were getting bored of the all too familiar cuts, texture and prints in luxury accessory designs and thought there wasn?t a single variation you haven't tried, trust Delhi based designer Manish Arora to come up with something new. And this time, it?s skulls! For his new FW15 collection at Paris Fashion Week, this edgy designer has come up with what could be called a treasure trove for all bold fashionistas -- 3D skull bags that adorn embellished and bejewelled headgear laced with roses, spikes, lace and even the Indian maang tika and nathani. Colours include brilliant pink, gold, aristocratic mustard, royal purple, and amber that not only contrasts the skull?s imagery but also lets you play around with your different outfits. Prices start from a whopping Rs 50,000.

    Liquid shadow:

Makeup junkies across the globe have a reason to do three cheers, as Giorgio Armani has come up with a rare and exciting range of eye shadow. The brand offers a whole new way to add colour to your eyes with their one of a kind liquid eye shadow formula called the Eye Tint. Blended in a special fluid this eye colour is rich in texture, has hints of shimmer that gives translucent or opaque finish to the eyes as per your choice.

What makes this eye shadow so special? When applied, the liquid evaporates from the skin leaving you with a silky smooth look -- a technology that is inspired by Armani?s own patented formula of Maestro Fusion Makeup. Available online on Giorgio Armani site, each of these liquid eye shadows are priced at approximately Rs 2500.

    Pump up the volume:

Those who have an ear for fine sound quality, can never settle for mediocre sound systems and often find themselves upgrading from better to the next best. Those looking out to get a replacement for their car?s sound system, can amp up their SUVs with the Rogue Acoustics Audio System -- of course, if you have the money to afford it as this machine comes at a jaw dropping price of $72,000 to start with and goes to over $330,000.

No wonder it?s claimed as the most expensive luxury sound systems one can get for their car. Also known as RA:1k, this ?Made In Australia? sound system features digital signal processing, high efficiency drivers and most highly developed amplifiers. Most remarkable characteristic of the system is that you may modify almost each and everything, including Titanium amplifier housings and jewel encrusted logos or designs, using Rogue Acoustics' in-house design service for alteration according to your preferences as well as the constraints of the vehicle.

    Camp in luxury:

There are executives who love their materialistic indulgences and can?t live without the comfort of luxury goods. On the other hand, some prefer to spend big moolah on experiencing nature in its unrefined form. And then there are those who seek the most of both worlds. To cater to them, French lifestyle designer Pierre Stephane Dumas has innovated a series of luxury tents called Bubble Tree, that lends one to a fun filled camping experience, not without the touch of luxury. The inflatable bubble tents come in built with wardrobes, sofas and electric lights for a comfortable stay. The series also features CristalBubble, a completely transparent tent for the exhibitionists, while ?Cocooning? is the version for those who seek privacy. Designer Pierre Stephane Dumas explained the concept behind his creations saying, ?A normal tent or camper van means people miss out on these things. So I designed this eccentric shelter with the aim of offering an unusual experience under the stars while keeping all the comfort of a bedroom suite.?

If you want to experience this ultra luxurious camping experience, who have to shell out around $11,914.

This week, meet the Indian jewellery designer whose work fetched billions in an auction, Chanel?s new premium range of wrist watches, and find out how billionaires get their caffeine fix.

    Bling it on:

If you think only international brands like Tiffany, Cartier and Van Cleef fetch billions in auctions for jewels, then you are wrong. Indian jewellery designer Nirav Modi did India proud with his diamond cut piece the Orchid Ainra Necklace at Christie?s Magnificent Jewels Auction and was sold at jaw dropping bid of Rs 13 crore.

The auction held in Hong Kong earlier this week created a buzz amongst bling lovers when the Indian designer made his second entry in the bidding since his debut in 2011. What makes the piece unique is its flawless pear shaped diamonds weighing 10.02 and 2.66 carats, which have been crafted to form an ovate link held together by a delicate metal fastening, making it one of the best design concept we have come across in recent times.

    Pop them bottles:

Celebration, extravaganza, and champagne are few words often said in the same breath. Off late, with the appearance of many affordable brands of champagne, the act of popping a bottle of champagne to celebrate something colossal is losing its exclusivity. So what do the A-listers do to cut themselves above the noise? Here?s what? they splurge on The Midas by Armand De Brignac, touted as the most popular champagne brand amongst the rich and the famous.

They are also known for producing the largest bottle of ?Ace of Spades? champagne, and also holds the title of being the most expensive bottle of Champagne to be sold at an auction. The bottle measured 100 pounds in weight and needed the efforts of three men to carry it to the venue for display at the auction. The size was known to be the equivalent of 40 regular-sized bottles. It had to be created by eight artists, who ended up making this golden giant bottle, named after Greek mythological King Midas, who could change anything he touched into gold. The auction happened through an exclusive club in London, called OneforOne Park Lane, where Mr. Johnson placed the winning bid.

The champagne brand?s bottles of Ace of Spades are reportedly a favorite of rap star Jay-Z, and have appeared in several of his music videos. Recently, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban spent $90,000 on these golden bottle of Ace of Spades celebrating its team winning in NBA championship at club LIV at Miami's Fontainebleau.

    For your ?Boyfriend?:

Have you met Chanel?s new Boyfriend? And no we are not talking about the Boyfriend handbag that JLo is so fond of flaunting at red carpets. The French luxury brand recently came out with a new time piece titled ?Boyfriend? aimed as a gift for your metrosexual male friend. It features sharp masculine anecdotes while still maintaining its refined feminine structure. Part of their premiere Watch line, it comes in 18 gold cases and bezels, with a few studded with brilliant cut diamonds.

Said to hit the stores towards the end of this year, the watch has already garnered a huge female fan following. However, a few metropolitan men may also be eyeing this sharp looking androgynous Boyfriend watch by Chanel.

    A billionaire?s caffein fix:

For coffee lovers across the world, a hot cup full of their favorite blend tastes nothing short of elixir. While most of us are satisfied with a Cappuccino or Americano from Starbucks, billionaires have their own special way to get their caffeine fix. For example the Rocket Espresso coffee machine, designed by Ralpha, which has the engravings and tech features to produce the perfect cup of coffee.

As the name suggests, this machine has been made in collaboration with Rocket Espresso Milano, known specialists in this domain, which makes the final product one of the best in the world. The body has been primarily made of steel with the Ralpha H Van silhouette and the Cycle Club logo, as this beverage has been associated with the cyclists over a period of time. Its technical components include the thermo siphon system, which helps in distribution of heat evenly, as well as the copper boiler with lead free brass end plates, which aids the insulation process and doesn?t let heat escape from inside the machine.

Like most of the designers, this too shall be made in limited quantities of 200 numbered pieces only. To get this machine for yourself, be prepared to shell out $2,430 needed to buy this machine. As an assessment, this product can easily be concluded to be for the person with refined taste and knowledge of the beverage.

This week, plan that Hollywood style date in a chopper, get yourself the ultimate style statement from Jimmy Choo, and try a new wearable tech?

Apart from escorting high profile diplomats and businessmen, they also get booked for lovebirds coveting a destination wedding.

Now the next time your dream date drives up your alley in a BMW, don?t be complacent. Think bigger and put him in touch with MAB Aviation!

?Em Stilettos just a booty call

The world of fashion just made a giant leap with stiletto specialist Jimmy Choo collaborating with the well-known boot maker Moon Boot. Fashionistas predict that the line that will come out of this collaboration will be quirky with a touch of class and practicality.

If you are someone with a thing for high heels then Jimmy Choo is a name you chant like a religious mantra. On the other hand, Italy?s Moon Boot is sports-style footwear created for comfort, and can withstand adverse climates. When you combine the two you get with the extremes of shoe fashion.

The collection, created in luxury materials such as shearling and fox fur, will feature eight limited edition pieces. Moreover, the line will sport a futuristic look while still retaining the retro vibe. Called Jimmy Choo. 08?, this brand new experimental line is to make its grand debut in October 2015 and the products will be available at Jimmy Choo boutiques and select stores across the globe. Although the makers have not revealed their starting price for the range, any fashion aficionado can tell that a pair of these limited edition Jimmy Choos would cost you a fortune.

    Oh So Futuristic

Here?s another addition to family of wearable tech, which has indeed been growing by leaps and bounds over the last couple of years. After Google Glass, it's now BMW MINI?s turn to show the world how to connect a driver with his car in an innovative manner. With its new augmented features, the MINI is all set to change the future of commuting with a range of exceptional features.

With everyone going gaga over wearable technology like Google Glass and iWatch, we can't blame the British luxury automobile giant, BMW MINI, to have their own version of it. And for a car-maker what would be more relevant than smart eyewear? This specialised eyewear uses see-through technology and shows information to the driver regarding the drive, without taking away from the view of the road and other elements on the path. Sounds like a cool scene from those sci-fi movies right?

What?s more, MINI has further been working with various Qualcomm companies and has come up with an interlinked system that offers improved routing information, as well as guidance for the driver. Design wise this little machine reminds you of the classic MINI, as the prototype is created in a combination of carbon black and dull gold. The gadget debuted at the Auto Shanghai show earlier this year.

    Power play

The world of hotel business is nothing short of powerplay between empires with the hotel properties being the castles. And this was reiterated when the destination chosen for the Hong Kong based Shangri La (rebranded to Palladium Hotel) will once again be replaced by Starwood Hotel & Resort?s luxury property St. Regis. Slated to make its debut in the third quarter of 2015, St. Regis will now be a part of Mumbai?s affluent five-star hotels catalogue.

Known for its impeccable hospitality and bespoke service across the globe, this 38-storey property will feature 386 guest rooms, including 60 suites with a wide range of gourmet selections at its four specialty restaurants, a club lounge and three bars. The hotel will also boast of its signature Iridium Spa offering bespoke touches of a rare spa experience. Besides these services, the hotel will house a well-equipped fitness centre, swimming pool and a 5,200 sq meters of unrivaled space for events and weddings.

In addition to the St. Regis Mumbai, the company is set to debut more hotels in India in the next two years including W Retreat & Spa Goa, The Westin Kolkata, Sheraton Hyderabad, Le Meridien Nagpur and the Aloft New Delhi Aerocity, reports luxpresso.com.

    Through the lens

The extremely rare and antique Laica camera of the 0-series 1923 fetched a jaw dropping $1,900,000 at the 19th WestLicht camera auction held on 28 May, making it the most expensive in the world so far. It claimed the position after the breaking the record of Leica MP2 that fetched 402,000 pounds in 2010. This beautiful piece was estimated to go for sale between $350,000 and $450,000, however the opening bid of $200,00 made it clear that the estimates were way off the mark. The said camera is the seventh of the Leica 0-series, and only 25 were produced to test the market in 1923.

The camera is also the only camera known with Germany engraving on the top plate. If that weren?t enough to get curious about this rare model of Camera, then it?s winner bidder should. The auction was closed after a winning bid was placed by an anonymous private Asian collector, after 20 minutes of fierce bidding.
