    Smoke House Deli is offering a special menu so allow yourself to fall in love with not just your date but also your plate. The menu includes smoked strawberry and asparagus with goat cheese and toasted almonds, smoked salmon with orange and wasabi, truffled spaghetti, flavoured with field mushrooms and porcini, grilled john dory with dill and caper glaze or the simple and wholesome thyme and chilli rubbed roast chicken with spring veggies.     Lalan Fakir was a Bengali Baul saint, mystic, songwriter, social reformer and thinker. In Bengali culture he is an icon of religious tolerance whose songs inspired and influenced many poets and social and religious thinkers including Rabindranath Tagore, Kazi Nazrul Islam and Allen Ginsberg. The play is an autobiography of Lalan Fakir. Directed by Ashis Chattopadhyay, this is a solo performance by Dipa Bramha where she will project the lifestyle of Lalan Fakir.

  • Eggplant Parmesan with Creamed Spinach

    Recipe for Eggplant Parmesan with Creamed Spinach

    Ingredients

    • ? cup all-purpose flour
    • ? cup panko breadcrumbs, divided
    • ? cup grated Parmesan cheese
    • 1 large egg
    • 4 ?-inch-thick center-cut eggplant slices
    • 1 9-oz. bag frozen spinach
    • 1 oz. reduced-fat cream cheese
    • ? cup prepared refrigerated thick marinara sauce, such as Buitoni
    • ? cup packed coarsely grated mozzarella or fontina cheese

    Directions

    1. Position rack in center of oven, and preheat to 375?F. Coat baking sheet with cooking spray.

    2. Place flour in pie dish or soup plate. Add panko and Parmesan to second pie dish or soup plate; whisk to blend. Reserve 2 Tbs. panko mixture. Add egg to third pie dish or soup plate; whisk to blend. Season eggplant with salt and pepper, if desired. Coat slices with flour, then egg, then panko mixture; press to adhere. Coat slices on both sides with cooking spray, and arrange on baking sheet.

    3. Bake eggplant 12 minutes, or until bottoms are brown and crisp. Loosen slices from sheet, and flip over. Bake 12 to 13 minutes longer, or until both sides are brown and crisp, and eggplant is tender.

    4. Meanwhile, coat large skillet with cooking spray; add spinach. Toss over medium-high heat 2 to 3 minutes, or until wilted. Scrape into towel-lined sieve, and firmly press out excess liquid. Transfer spinach to work surface, and
    finely chop.

    5. Recoat skillet with cooking spray. Add spinach, cream cheese, and 1 Tbs. reserved panko mixture. Cook over medium-high heat 3 to 4 minutes, or until mixture is very thick, adding remaining 1 Tbs. reserved panko (if necessary) to thicken.

    6. Spread marinara sauce atop eggplant on baking sheet. Spoon or spread spinach over top, leaving border of sauce visible. Sprinkle with mozzarella, and bake 4 to 5 minutes, or until topping is heated through

    Shamitabh

    Shamitabh is all set to release on 6 February, 2015. Written and directed by R. Balki, the film features Amitabh Bachchan, Dhanush and Akshara Haasan in lead roles. The film is jointly produced by Sunil Lulla, Balki, Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, R. K. Damani, Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Sunil Manchanda and Dhanush under their respective production banners. Ilaiyaraaja has composed the soundtrack album and background score, while P. C. Sreeram handled cinematography. The film also stars Rekha in a pivotal role. While the trailer looks promising, one can only decide the fate of the film upon its release.

    The Boy Next Door
    The Boy Next Door, directed by Rob Cohen and written by Barbara Curry, stars Jennifer Lopez, Ryan Guzman, John Corbett, Ian Nelson, and Kristin Chenoweth in lead roles. While the movie released in the US two weeks back, the romantic thriller will release in India this weekend. Lopez plays a high school teacher named Claire who, in the midst of a divorce, has a one-night stand with a younger neighbor who develops a dangerous obsession with her. The movie has performed well at the box office, almost quadrupling its budget during its opening weekend alone.
