Submitted by ITV Production on Jun 20, 2009

MUMBAI: Radio Mirchi was crowned the undisputed king of the Radio domain in the recently released IRS, Round 1, 2009.

With over 40 million weekly listeners across its network, the channel emerged head & shoulders above the competition, with a reach exceeding the combined reach of the next two players out together. The private FM domain is today a keenly contested space with over 240 channels across 87 cities/towns vying for consumer listenership in a 24X7 battle fought daily.

The Indian Readership Survey with a sample size of 2.4 lacs is the largest continuous readership survey in the world and the only single source research available in the country.

Apart from the IRS,the battle for listenership has another arena in four metros. Pioneered by TAM and conducted by Hansa Research is the Radio Audience Measurement better known as the RAM. In its 21st month now, RAM has been reporting listenership trends since 2007.

In the latest data put out by RAM, Radio Mirchi has created history of sorts by becoming the first and only radio network to claim the Number One position in all markets covered by RAM.
