Bisawa Creations gets extension for DD metro comedy show

MUMBAI: A weekly comedy show on Doordarshan (DD) metro channel that has completed 65 episodes (as of today, 21 August 2003) is definitely a rarity in these days.
Bisawa Creations' Idhar Kamaal Udhar Dhamaal that airs in the 7 pm slot every Thursday has got an extension for an additional 13 episodes taking its total tally to 78. The weekly show stars Upasana Singh, Rajesh Puri, Vijay Gokhale, Gajendra Chauhan. Kishore Bhanushali and Birbal amongst others.

While speaking to indiantelevision.com, producer Purushuttom Bisawa says: "This programme on DD has a good viewership and its popularity is increasing with every episode. We have bagged a lot of advertisers and the one-of-its-kind show has been making significant contributions to DD's kitty. However, it is very sad that media continues to focus on C&S channel shows rather than talking about this show."
Speaking about the show, Bisawa says that the serial Idhar Kamaal Udhar Dhamaal is a successful experiment. "Normally, comedies are more episodic in nature whether we have used the continuous story-telling 'soap' format. The script is a good one and the entire team has contributed to the success of the show," he adds.
Bisawa, who is the producer-director-writer, works in Vicco Laboratories and has produced several shows. "Producing shows is my hobby. I have done several popular shows such as Aaja Haasaja on DD metro (9 pm slot) that marked comedian Devang Patel's debut. The other shows included Yeh Dharti Hindustan Ki and Zindagi Navrang Hai on DD1."
Bisawa Creations has also obtained clearance for a social family drama called Lady Inspector that will be aired on DD1. The slot is not yet finalised at this point of time.
