NEW DELHI: An amount of Rs 3190 million has been provided in the 10th Plan for Doordarshan's modernization and digitalization of various regional offices and transmission facilities in the country.
Replying to a question by Sunder Lal Tiwari and Satyavrat Chaturvedi in the Lok Sabha today, information and broadcasting minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that Doordarshan Kendras at Bhopal, Gwalior and Indore in Madhya Pradesh are proposed to be digitalised and modernised in phases during the 10th Plan period.
Last week, Prasad had informed Parliament that the government is considering a proposal to start an exclusive channel for the welfare of the farmers.
Replying to a question by A Venkatesh Naik in Lok Sabha today, the minister said that the details are being worked out in consultation with Department of Agriculture and it is too early to give a timeframe for it now.
