NEW DELHI: It's going live with the help of some technology and a few divine blessings.
Kerala-based Amrita TV, a new infotainment channel to be launched soon, has signed a deal to buy Beehive Systems's digital newsgathering solutions called vid'linkä and vid'linkMOBILEä for live broadcast of their cultural and news-based programmes.
Established with blessings of Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, the channel that focusses on Indian culture and values, will go on air shortly, using Beehive Systems's products.
According to a Beehive release, the vid'link newsgathering solution will link Amrita TV's main studio in Thiruvanthapuram to other locations like Calicut, Cochin and Delhi.
The system will enable the channel to send live as well as to store and forward video clips from other bureaus over leased line networks, says the release.
The laptop-based mobile newsgathering equipment, vid'link mobileT will be deployed at remote locations for store and forward video transfer over non-conventional media like ISDN and dial up internet connections. The advanced codec used in vid'link mobileT compresses the video almost 70 per cent more efficiently than other compression standards without compromising on the quality, says the release. The cost of transferring the video from remote locations is extremely low compared to traditional mediums like VSAT, leased lines, claims the release.
Elaborating on how Beehive's broadcast solutions will benefit the channel, C&NP executive director Suresh Narayanan said, "vid'link will help our remote bureaus transmit critical videos real-time at low bandwidth. The value addition is - it also gives the option of 'Store and Forward' in the same box. The laptop-based vid'linkMobile empowers our widely spread reporters to send their packaged stories back to the central studio at significantly low cost and without having to travel with bulky equipments."
According to Beehive Systems vice-president, business development Ajay Pal Singh, "We believe Amrita TV's quality content will be perfectly backed up by Beehive's cutting edge digital solutions."
