MUMBAI: Television on mobile is no longer a far-fetched technology and is touted as the gen X technology. Times Now the proposed English news channel of the Times Group and Reuters Service has tied-up with Reliance IndiaMobile for the same.
Though the wait for the channel's launch continues, Reliance IndiaMobile users can now begin accessing the latest headlines and exclusive stories of Times Now. The day the channel hits the airwaves Reliance IndiaMobile users will be able to stream the channel, says Times Global Broadcasting Company Ltd. VP and business head Partho Das Gupta.
The charges defined for the users has been Rs 15 per session. When quizzed if the channel will be desigining specific shows for mobile users, Das Gupta categorically emphasises,"It is in the pipeline and we will explore the platform to the maximum."
He adds that at a later stage the company may tie-up with the other service operators.
Similar content will be available to R World as well. In an official statement issued, the company informs that those with Nokia 6255 and Nokia 6235 handsets can access the channel, those with other R World models would be able to access news clips on demand.
Times Global Broadcasting Co Ltd CEO Sunil Lulla said, "Times Now's association with Reliance India Mobile has created a unique solution for the urbanite. The urbanite continues to have access to news and information, while on the move, enabling mobile users to stay updated around the clock and 'Feel The News'."
"Reliance Infocomm on inception pioneered video based content on mobile phones in India. The launch of Times Now on R World is a recognition of multi-media savvy Reliance customers and the strength of R World, which sees millions of content downloads. This is in line with Reliance's pursuit of making mobile TV a reality in India," says Reliance Infocomm content and application solution group president Mahesh Prasad.
