NEW DELHI: The minister of information and broadcasting Ravi Shankar Prasad announced yesterday that Patna FM station of All India Radio (AIR) is being upgraded from 6 KW to 10 KW. He said that three more FM stations would be set up at Motihari, Gaya and Banka during the tenth plan.
The minister said that projects worth Rs165 million are being implemented by Prasar Bharati in Bihar during the tenth plan to strengthen the AIR transmission in the State. These include the digital uplinking facility at Patna and upgradation of station at Darbanga.
At present, there are four stations in Bihar - Patna 100KW Medium Wave and a 6 KW FM, Bhagalpur 20 KW Medium Wave, Sasaram 6 KW FM and Purnea 6 KW FM stations.
The upgradation of AIR set up has been undertaken not only provide healthy entertainment to the people but also extend it to the border and far-flung areas of the State, the minister said.
