MUMBAI: In what could be construed as a move towards self-sufficiency, Star News is absorbing professionals from outside. While its marketing head has quit, the engineering head has moved back to Star India.
As already reported by indiantelevision.com, Star News brand director Keertan Adyanthaya put in his papers a few days ago and is slated to join MTV's sibling English music channel Vh1 as general manager.
Adyanthaya’s replacement has not been finalized yet by Star News’ parent company Media Content and Communications Services India Pvt. Ltd (MCCS). While the news channel’s marketing head moves on to a new assignment, the operations director, Vynsley Fernandes, has returned to Star India from where he had come to oversee the engineering, technical, operations and production aspects of Star News.
MCCS has roped in Aaj Tak's number two in the engineering section Suboroto Dutta as a replacement for Fernandes.
MCCS is a joint venture between the Aveek Sarkar-controlled ABP Group and Rupert Murdoch-promoted Star Group. The venture manages Star News and would be overseeing the functioning of Star News’ siblings too as and when they are put on air.
At the moment, MCCS is fine-tuning the launch of a Bengali news channel, which will be called Star Ananda. The logo of the channel, designed by BBC Broadcast, is also ready.
