MUMBAI: Is the pubcaster looking at a complete image overhaul? Although the idea seems preposterous, if the new serial Miss India, which is set to air on the DD1, is any indication then surely the times ahead will boast of some change.
To be telecast on the national channel from 19 May 2004 at 9:30 pm, the weekly is based on beauty pageants.
Taking a cue from the 'infamous' Laxmi Pandit incident, the serial will take a peek into the world of glamour that has taken youngsters fancy. Pandit's Miss India-World title was revoked after it was found that she had embellished few facts on her bio-data.
Produced by Rupesh Gohil, under the banner of Uthopia Production, the show is directed by debutante Sabir Mustaffa. Touted to be based on the real life story of Mustaffa, the show stars Carran Kapur, Kajal Sharma, Pakhi, Shilpa Shinde, Shweta Kawatra and Dalip Tahil.
While the screenplay is written by Brij Mohan, dialogues are written by Rajesh Saksham, cinematography is by Mahendra Ryan and music is given by Sachin.
The serial is a grim look at the glamour industry. It will try to look at if the path to the beauty pageant is a bed of roses or is strewn with thorns.
