MUMBAI: Roshan Abbas has become the first casualty of the teporary closure of private FM radio station Win 94.6 in Mumbai last week.
The television anchor who also hosted the popular Khanak at 9 pm daily on Win, interspersing old Hindi film songs with related anecdotes, has decided to shift to rival Radio City, although he is yet to sign on the dotted line, it is learnt. Abbas' decision to quit has come soon after Win went off air, but sources say talks between Radio City and the popular anchor had been on for some time, as the radio RJ fraternity is a limited one.
It has not yet been decided if Abbas will host a show similar to Khanak, which had struck a chord with listeners in Mumbai, or will anchor a completely different genre. Radio City COO Sumantra Datta, when contacted, however, denied that Abbas was coming on board.
