MUMBAI: Oscar winning animated feature Pocahontas will debut in Hindi on the Disney Channel on 11 June at 6 pm.
The compelling and inspiring tale of a brave, compassionate and dynamic young woman comes to life with breathtaking animation, art direction and a Hindi song score by Sanjay Chowdhary.
Featuring the voice talents of Viraj Abhav as Captain Smith and Marianne D’Cruz as Pocahontas, the movie conveys socially relevant messages like futility of wanton destruction and discrimination based on caste, creed and races.
With dramatic storytelling elements of fantasy, comedy, music and adorable legion of animals like ‘Meeko-the raccoon’, ‘Flit-the hummingbird’ and a talking ‘Grandmother Willow’ tree, the movie promises to be an entertainment extravaganza for kids and adults alike.
Led by a greedy, bombastic governor, handsome British Captain John Smith and his team arrives to the New World in search of gold. The explorers promptly begin cutting down trees, digging holes, and prepare to kill the Indians. Meanwhile, a young native woman, Pocahontas, embodying the wit and spirit of nature falls in love with Captain Smith thus inciting hatred between her tribe and his shipmates. Her father, Chief is certain that the white men’s' landing means war. And the only hope to avert a pitched battle arises as a result of the romance that develops between Smith and Pocahontas.
