UTV Movies expands reach in East Africa

MUMBAI: UTV is increasing the footprint of its Hindi movie channel, UTV Movies, in East Africa.

UTV has tied up with Tristar Media Marketing for the launch of the channel in the Eastern and Southern Africa region on cable TV.

With the deal in place, UTV Movies will reach out to the ethnic community in the COMESA (Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa) countries of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Sudan, Zambia and Malawi, the company said.
 
With this development, UTV‘s channels now have presence in the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Nepal, United Arab Emirates and South-Eastern Africa.
UTV CEO - Broadcasting MK Anand said, "We are pleased to announce the expansion of our footprint into the African region, which boasts of a sizeable ethnic community and we are positive of living up to our commitment of providing quality entertainment products to our viewers across the world."
