Accenture to manage Reliance Entertainment's digital rights system

BANGALORE: Reliance Entertainment Ltd. has selected Accenture to integrate a revenue-generating digital rights management system for its movie production, distribution and home entertainment businesses.

The two arms of the company, Reliance Entertainment and Reliance Home Video, will, thus, be able to collect digital rights revenues globally by delivering content on multiple platforms including cinema, mobile handsets and tablet computers.

According to the contract, Accenture is integrating a third-party digital rights management software with Reliance‘s pre-existing rights management system and enterprise resource planning tool.

This systems integration initiative is aimed to allow Reliance to automate various functions to generate more revenues by streamlining its business processes to handle larger transaction volumes, thus leading to a more effective calculation and collection of digital rights and royalties.

Reliance Entertainment CEO Sanjeev Lamba said, "A growing number of Reliance customers are deciding when, where and on what platform they want to consume media and entertainment content. To address these diverse needs, our company needs a versatile, intelligent and reliable digital rights management system that will ultimately generate more revenues from our media assets."
Accenture‘s Communications & High-Tech group in India MD Ashish Khanna added, "There is immense scope for the monetisation of content in the media and entertainment industry today. We‘re excited to be working with Reliance Entertainment and Home Video to handle its digital rights management globally as they overcome this hurdle for their business."
