MUMBAI: India‘s evergreen star Dev Anand was recently felicitated by the Madhya Pradesh government when it bestowed upon the star the Rashtriya Kishore Kumar Samman (award).
The producer-director-actor received the award for excellence in direction and a host of achievements. An amount of Rs 200,000, a plaque, shawl and coconut was given to the star as part of the award.
Conferring the award to Dev Anand, Madhya Pradesh culture minister Laxmikant Sharma reportedly said that Dev Anand is an established signature in film world. "We are feeling proud by honouring him."
A grand function was also held at Khandwa to mark veteran cine-star Kishore Kumar‘s death anniversary.
It may be noted that the Rashtriya Kishore Kumar Samman was to be given to Dev Anand at Khandwa, but due to unavoidable circumstances the star could not mske it to Khandwa. Hence, it was decided to bestow the award on him at his residence in Mumbai.
