One97 invests in LeapSky Wireless of Singapore

MUMBAI: Mobile Vas company One97 Communications has invested an undisclosed amount in Singapore-based LeapSky Wireless.

The deal will help One97 Communications in solving a critical gap in mobile Internet services for roaming users.

LeapSkys device, JumpSurf, provides cheaper international data roaming to customers through bulk data deals with telecom operators across geographies. Currently, it converts 3G to Wifi, but in future plans to upgrade to support LTE/WiMax networks, for higher data transfer speeds.

One97 Communications Limited chairman and MD Vijay Shekhar Sharma said, "I am so happy that we are investing in a pre-revenue company working on a breakthrough product. Siva and his team have tremendous passion and focus solving a critical gap in mobile internet services for roaming users."

Noida-based One97 Communications uses an interactive voice response system or voice, short message services, unstructured supplementary services data and wireless application protocol technology to deliver products and services for telecom operators.
