Star Plus expands distribution in Holland

MUMBAI: Star TV network is increasing its reach in Mainland Europe. The company has launched its flagship Hindi general entertainment channel, Star Plus, on Holland’s second largest cable platform, UPC Nederland.

With this launch, UPC has strengthened its Asian television entertainment offering to the South Asian diaspora in Holland.

Star claims that it is the most distributed South Asian network in the UK and Mainland Europe.

Earlier this year, Star channels also were launched on other cable and IPTV platforms in Europe such as CAIWAY and Glashart in Holland and You See in Denmark.

Commenting on the launch, Star’s head of UK and European business Yeshpal Sharma said, “Holland is home to the second largest Hindi speaking population after the UK in Europe, and we are delighted to partner with leading cable operator UPC to reach this significant market. This latest deal with UPC is part of Star’s unprecedented growth in mainland Europe, now making Star one of the most widely available networks in Europe.”
