Asianet CEO Mahesh Kumar quits

MUMBAI: After working for over 12 years at Asianet Satellite Communications, its president and CEO R Mahesh Kumar has decided to move on.

Kumar has resigned and is currently serving his notice period.

Started in 1993, Asianet is the largest cable network services company in Kerala. It is privately held by Rajan Raheja who also owns a majority stake in the listed entity, Hathway Cable & Datacom.

"I have resigned and am currently serving my notice period," Kumar told Indiantelevision.com.

Kumar has been associated with Asianet since 1999 when the company was at its initial stages. He has played a key role in establishing Asianet as one of the largest players in the cable and broadband space in the south.

Kumar said that Asianet has grown from a very small base and from only a CATV company to one of the largest broadband service providers with over 100,000 subscribers. The company has also launched digital services.

“This has enabled Asianet to generate multiple revenue streams and offer higher return on investment’,” Kumar said.
