MUMBAI: Dating app Tinder has leapfrogged video streaming platform Netflix in Q1 2019 as the highest-earning non-gaming app.

According to reports, Netflix revenues dropped 15 per cent since the last quarter to reach $216.3 million, while the Tinder app grossed $260.7 million from Google Play Store and Apple App Store and its q-o-q revenues grew by 42 per cent.

Meanwhile, the probable reason for the decline in Netflix was because of its decision to stop paying ‘Apple tax.’ The streaming platform no longer allows new users to sign up and subscribe to its service through its iOS application.

Tinder’s subscription-driven service Tinder Gold has managed to attract Indians as well where it also emerged as the top-grossing app on Play Store app. Tinder doesn't share country specific numbers but it claims to have more than 3 million Gold subscribers globally, with 1.7 million subscribers in 2018 alone, reports mentioned.
