MUMBAI: Star Movies is presenting the first International Women's Film Festival (IWWF) in India from 5 March to 9 March across various cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkatta, Hyderabad, Trivandrum and Bangalore.
The film festival gives the audiences in India an opportunity to discover the work of five talented women filmmakers, whose feature films will be screened across these cities.
The films lined up for the festival are The Apple by Samira Makhmalbaf from Iran, 39 Chowringee Lane by well known Indian filmmaker Aparna Sen (maker of Mr & Mrs Iyer), Daisies, by Vera Chytilova from Czech Republic, The Swamp by Lucrecia Martel from Argentina andSweetie by Jane Campion from Australia. One feature film will be screened every evening across five evenings in all the cities mentioned.
Star Movies' Women's Day line up for 8 March includes Legally Blonde at12:15 noon, Sister Act at2:10 pm, Contact at4:05 pm and the superhit Bend it like Beckham at 6.50 pm.
The movie channel is an integral part of the Mumbai Academy of Moving Images (MAMI).
