Simpson gives proposed reality show idea thumbs down

MUMBAI: What is good for the goose read The Osbournes may not be good for the gander read OJ Simpson! He was the darling of US television nine years ago courtesy a live car chase involving the Los Angeles police. However, Simpson has no plans of prolonging that relationship through a reality show.

The ex-football star put to rest talk that he would be making or get involved in any way with a 13-part reality TV series on his life. He was also sceptical about the reaction footage that Urban Television Network Corporation would get regarding his visits to hip-hop concerts over the past couple of years. He feels that the footage would be good for a half hour special but not for a series.

The footage was filmed by Spiderboy International. In fact, a couple of days prior to Simpson's clarification, Urban Television Network had entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Spiderboy International for a potential television series based on Simpson's life since 2002.

Simpson, however, maintains that he would like to feature on television in a different avtaar that of a news correspondent for the murder trial of actor Robert Blake. In 1994, US viewers were glued to their seats watching a live car chase. The police chased Simpson down a Los Angeles freeway. Simpson was, of course, cleared of the charge of murdering his wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Robert Goldman.
