Titans shows supremacy on foreign shores too

MUMBAI: Not only has Warner Bros.‘ Clash of the Titans won box-office plaudits in the US, it has showed its supremacy in overseas territories too wherever it released. The film grossed an estimated $44.2 million in its opening launch on 4,240 screens in 15 markets.

The film has become only the third title of 2010 to take the No. 1 spot overseas.

Titans took over Disney‘s Alice in Wonderland that was No. 1 foreign title after 20th Century Fox‘s Avatar.

While Alice drew $34.2 million from 8,443 spots in 51 markets, Avatar finished out of the top five with $4.6 million generated from 2,300 screens in 37 markets for a foreign gross total of $1.959 billion.

Titans claimed the No. 1 spot in each market it played drawing $7.8 million over three days from 752 sites in the UK; $8.6 million in five days in Spain from 549 spots; $6.8 million over four days in 591 Korea screens and $5.9 million over four days in Australia from 349 locations.

According to Warner Bros, Titans beat the comparable opening grosses in the same 15 territories recorded by 300, the 2006 hit ($38 million) and 2004‘s Troy ($32 million).
