NEW YORK: Longtime NBC executive Randy Falco was last week was named group president of the NBC television network, taking over from Andrew Lack, who quit recently to head Sony Corp's music division.
 

49 year old Falco has been working for NBC since 1975, steadily rising through the ranks and since 1998, has been overseeing affiliate station relations, sales and marketing, broadcast standards, research and network operations. He will now assume additional responsibility earlier shouldered by Lack, including corporate business development, cable distribution and strategy, production operations and information technology.
 

Falco will report to NBC Chairman and Chief Executive Bob Wright. Falco has to his credit six Emmys for Olympics coverage.
