MUMBAI: The personal baby of Star India senior V-P content & Communication Tarun Katial has delivered and how.
This month's (Sunday, 6 July) Star Parivar Awards has laid claim to the highest ratings for a televised event on Indian cable and satellite TV since 2000 (and possibly ever, say channel representatives). TVRs of 14.7 in the Hindi speaking markets for C&S 4+ is what Star, quoting TAM data, says the show achieved. On the all-India ratings list, the show came in at sixth with a 9.9 TVR.
The Dabur Red Toothpaste Star Parivar Awards was conceptualised as an awards night for the most popular characters on Star Plus' top shows.
Viewers' choice awards were handed out in a number of categories - for favourite husband, wife, grandfather, grandmother, daughter-in-law, mother-in-law, son, sister-in-law and the like.
The Star Parivar Awards kicked off on 14 June with a half-hour nomination special at 8 pm detailing the categories, entry mechanism, anchor tips, etc. That and the following four Saturday's were devoted as nomination specials leading up to the "big night" on 6 july. The actual event was held on 1 July.
