Aaj Tak gets court to curb Ab Tak from using deceptive logo

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court yesterday passed an order to the owners of Ab Tak, a local TV channel, restraining them from using a name and logo or any other deceptive variant similar to TV Today's Aaj Tak.
TV Today Network had recently filed a civil suit against CB Jha and Rashtriya Dhurandhar, who had launched Ab Tak in July 2003.
It was contended in TV Today's suit that by using a trade name and logo similar to their channel , Ab Tak was infringing upon their copyright and passing off the local channel as if it was a product of the producers of Aaj Tak.
Justice OP Dwivedi, who looked into the case, has summoned the defendants on 2 September. The court opined that the use of such a similar brand name could seriously undermine the credibility of the original channel, and might suggest an association/affiliation with Aaj Tak.
