MUMBAI / NEW DELHI: ESPN Star Sports has just upped the ante in its confrontation with Hinduja Group MSO INCableNet over the issue of outstanding dues.
With no solution in sight, ESS says it is ready to by-pass INCableNet and deal directly with "disgruntled" franchisees in Mumbai. According to ESS distribution head Sricharan Iyengar, some INCableNet franchisees have been complaining that in spite of having paid their bills up to the month of April to the MSO, they were still without the feeds. "We are talking to 20-25 franchisees in Mumbai in this regard," Iyengar said.
Asked whether any other broadcasters were joining in this action, Iyengar could not offer any confirmation. Zee Turner chief executive Sunil Khanna, however, said he was unaware of any coordinated action by the pay broadcasters in this regard.
Currently all the major pay networks, ESS, SET-Discovery, Zee-Turner, and Star India have switched off INCableNet.
