Talking Movies' search for young film makers

MUMBAI: BBC World is searching for the world's best young film makers in a competition launched at the Cannes Film Festival by its flagship entertainment programme, Talking Movies.
BBC's Talking Movies Young Film Makers Competition is inviting viewers aged 18 to 30 to submit short fictional films on any subject of up to two minutes thirty seconds. A panel of judges, including the show presenter Tom Brook, will select the top three productions.
These will be shown on a future edition of Talking Movies on BBC World (the last programme of the year), while the overall winner will also receive an all expenses paid trip courtesy of Stella Artois Screen to New York to join Tom and the rest of the Talking Movies team on location.
All entries must be received by 31st October 2003 and full details will be available online at www.bbcworld.com/yfm. The contest was announced at the Stella Artois Screen Gold Party at the Carlton Hotel, Cannes, part of the Film Festival 2003. Stella Artois Screen has had a long association with Talking Movies, including sponsoring the programme in Europe in 2002.
The show presenter Tom Brook says: "This is a search for young talent from around the world and I hope our competition will encourage a budding Kathryn Bigelow or Steven Soderbergh to come forward."
