MUMBAI: BBC World has promoted Preet Dhupar to director of finance and operations, India. Dhupar will be based in New Delhi and will be responsible for BBC World's operations in India.
Dhupar will report to the London based finance director, Simone Pennie and will continue to be responsible for all financial aspects of the business. She has been working with BBC World since 2000 and is a chartered accountant by profession, informs an official release.
Prior to joining BBC World, she worked for Becton Dickinson, Caltex and KPMG in India. The functional heads for distribution and business development and airtime sales operations in India will continue to report to their respective global line managers in London.
Commenting on the appointment BBC World chief operating officer Anne Barnard says: "The Indian broadcasting environment is undergoing many changes and this role will ensure the channel can maximise opportunities in India and will strengthen the businesses strategic position to enable continued channel growth in the market."
