MUMBAI: Olivier Nakache and Éric Toledano’s The Intouchables, which won Omar Sy the César award for best actor, is to be released in India on 13 July.

Sy won the Cesar award, France‘s national award, for his portrayal of Driss in the film by defeating Jean Dujardin, nominated for The Artist.

The film is being released in India by the Tanweer group.

The Intouchables also won the Grand Prix award for best film and the award for best actor to both Francois Cluzet and Sy at the Tokyo International Film Festival 2011.

After a paragliding accident, when Philippe, a rich Parisian aristocrat, needs a live-in caretaker, he encounters many clones of qualified people in an interview. Driss, a strapping inner-city crook, shows up for this interview with the intention of being rejected.

However, impressed with his irreverence, Philippe hires him. What follows is the formation of a great bond between the two, as they help each other across some of the challenges in store for them.
