• 'Inside the Actors' Studio to showcase Krishna Bhanji on 29 October only on PIX

Submitted by ITV Production on Oct 26, 2006

MUMBAI: From Nazi war criminals to Jewish Holocaust survivors, this chameleon like British actor has proven that he can play just about anyone, he is none other than Ben Kingsley. Watch out for another exciting Sunday evening as PIX brings you another overwhelming episode of Inside the Actors Studio.

For many viewers, he will always be inextricably linked with his title role in Gandhi, a film that won him an Oscar and the undying respect of critics and filmgoers alike but adamantly refusing to recycle the same roles, Kingsley spent the next decade playing a wide spectrum of characters. Among his more notable movies are Turtle Diary, Pascali‘s Island, Dave, Schindler‘s List, Death and the Maiden and more recently the critically acclaimed House of fog and sand.

So many of his characters have been either taciturn or downright villainous that, upon being cast in a good-guy role in the escapist sci-fier Species, Kingsley publicly expressed his relief in several widely circulated magazine articles.

    - He was born ‘Krishna Bhanji‘ as he is of half Indian and half English descent and his paternal family was from the Indian state of Gujarat, which incidentally is the same state Mahatma Gandhi was from.

    - He was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in the New Year‘s Eve Honors List 2001.

    - Derived his stage name from his grandfather‘s nickname Clove King. His grandfather was a spice trader in Zanzibar.

    - He wrote music as well as sang and played guitar, after one performance, John Lennon and Ringo Starr came backstage and told him that he should go into music and that if he didn‘t, "he would regret it for the rest of his life."

Catch the one and only Gandhi on Inside the Actors studio this 29 october at 7:00 pm only on PIX.

  • Meet the 'Walkers'' on Star World

Submitted by ITV Production on Oct 17, 2006

MUMBAI: Get introduced to the zany and slightly troubled members of the ‘Walker‘ family who try to make it through the day-to-day routine of life!

Star World presents a unique hybrid comedy series that offers a mix of improvisational and scripted humor in an unadulterated look at marriage, raising children and living in close proximity to an extended family.

Creators Goss and Nick Holly borrow from their own middle-American, middle-class upbringings to deliver a very real and relatable modern-day family comedy, starring Fred Goss. Catch another enjoyable episode of Sons & Daughters this Thursday, 19 October at 10 p.m. only on Star World.

At the center of the mess is Cameron Walker (Fred Goss), who is happily married to second wife Liz (Gillian Vigman), with three children. Cameron‘s teenage son from his first marriage has officially moved in-and has a little? well, a lot-of trouble becoming comfortable in the new environment. Cameron‘s sister Sharon (Alison Quinn) seems to have the perfect life-although her husband, Don (Jerry Lambert), are both in denial about their sex-less marriage. Then there‘s Jenna (Amanda Walsh), the gorgeous little half-sister who had her life shook when she became a single mother. Jenna doesn‘t really know what‘s good for her, and she always goes for the bad boys like Tommy White (Greg Pitts), while the nice guys like Wylie Blake (Desmond Harrington) love her. Equally problem-filled Colleen (Dee Wallace Stone) and Wendal (Max Gail), the parents of the siblings, try to keep their family in order...somehow. Colleen, though, is admittedly uptight and impulsively judgmental. Even though they‘re all a little nuts, the Halbert family hangs in there and keeps it all together.

This Thursday, October 19th, watch Jeff throw a house party as Don and Sharon go away for the night and leave him in charge. Concerned, Carrie calls her Uncle Cameron to put an end to it... but seeing it as an escape, he joins the fun and brings reluctant son Henry with him.
