• Exclusive global CNN documentary 'God's Warriors' examines religion, power and politics

    MUMBAI: Protestors who kill for their religious beliefs. "Patriot Pastors" who seek to change American culture through the ballot box. Zealots who target prime ministers and presidents with assassination for "subverting God‘s will."

    Parents who reject science education in conflict with their religious principles. Suicide martyrs who are revered as iconic heroes. These are "God‘s Warriors" of Christianity, Islam and Judaism. They see contemporary society as corrupt and view themselves as the front line of defense in a battle for cultural supremacy and political power. They are changing the world.

    CNN chief international correspondent Christiane Amanpour journeyed to eight countries over eight months to report for God‘s Warriors, an exclusive global CNN documentary about the global phenomenon of religious fervor upon politics, culture and public life . During six hours broadcast over three consecutive nights, CNN will reveal how "God‘s Warriors" want to bring religion back from the periphery to the center of public life ? and how far they are willing to go to transform modern society.

    God‘s Warriors includes thought-provoking interviews with former U.S. President Jimmy Carter; the late Rev. Jerry Falwell in his last television interview; Ayaan Hirsi Ali, a Muslim women‘s rights advocate; Yehuda Etzion, a founder of the Israeli settlement movement; and Israeli President Shimon Peres.

    A companion website to God‘s Warriors offers users show excerpts from the documentary, an audio podcast and an exclusive video diary that goes behind-the-scenes.     MUMBAI: On the very special occasion of India‘s 60th Independence Day celebration, the talented finalists of Amul Star Voice of India are all set to pay their tribute to thousands of brave souls who contributed to our independence.

    The presence of celebrities like Sunidhi Chauhan, Hariharan, Roop Kumar Rathore & Alka Yagnik will further add on to the independence flavor.

    The special episode will get a start when the six boys of Amul Star Voice of India will instigate the patriotic feelings by singing the song vande Mataram by AR Rehaman. Shaan will add on to the jingoistic atmosphere by narrating some facts of the freedom struggle. The youngest contestant Abhas will lend his voice to the famous deshbhakti song ‘Kar Chale Hum Fida‘. The Lucknow youngster, Harshit will maintain the flavor of the day while singing the very touching number ‘Mera Rang De Basanti Chola‘ .

    This episode will also screen aspiratory clippings of the brave Army Jawans talking emotionally about their experiences, the difficult of staying alone and away from their families without communication and contribution of ASVOI which is their constant source of inspiration & respite. The celebrity singer Roop Kumar Rathore will appropriately compliment the nationalistic feeling by singing the very touching song ‘ Sandese aaten hain‘ from the movie Border. He will then team up with an extremely talented contestant Prantik and enhance the patriotic rhythm by singing ‘Zindagi Maut Na Ban Jaye‘.

    Prantik, Arhpreet, Harshit & Abhas will change the mood when they will get together and rock the show by singing a foot tapping number ‘Suno Gaur Se Duniya walon‘. Shaan will take over the stage & will call all contestants & celebrity singers to begin the independence countdown. And finally the moment will arrive when the entire team of Amul Star Voice of India will have an emotional blast as the clock struck 12. The countdown bash will be followed by a special screening of the difficulties & hardships the ASVOI finalists are going through.

    Shaan together with all the contestants will sing ‘Mere Desh Ki Dharti‘. Another celebrity singer Alka Yagnik will lend her melodious voice to the song ‘Panchi Gagan, Hawa Ke Jhoke‘. Two of the most talented contestants, Sumitra & Mirande will set back the traditional patriotic mood by singing ‘Ayo re mharo dolana‘. Toshi & Irfan will add a different flavor to deshbhakti by singing ‘Thodi Si Dhool Meri‘ while Arshpreet & Prantika will express their love for their country by singing ‘I Love My India‘. The other duo, Priyani & Abhilasha will dedicate their feelings by singing ‘Boomaro‘. Shaan will join the four girls of ASVOI and will add to the vigor by presenting the Bollywood number ‘Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani‘.
