Starting 26 August, Radio City urged Hyderabad‘s Radio Cityzens to support the campaign whole heartedly to donate books for under-privileged children. The FM station received a tremendous response from listeners who contributed to this cause with full enthusiasm. Radio City received hundreds of books varying from nursery books, story books, novels, books on general knowledge and even engineering text books. Some listeners also donated clothes.
On Teacher‘s Day, 5 September, 2007 the team from Radio City including Ms. Manuja Verma, Programming Head, Radio City Hyderabad, RJs Shraddha and Sameer from The Radio City Breakfast Show, RJ Anuj (Radio City Joyride), RJ Gowthami (Hum Tum) and RJ Sudha (City Spice) visited Alpha Home and Divya Disha Balniketan at Uppal to present the collected books and clothes. The Radio City team spent quality time talking to the children and playing with them; they distributed books and joined the children for lunch. The FM station also ran LIVE out broadcasts from these homes.
Thanks to the generosity of the people of Hyderabad, Radio City through this campaign successfully observed Teacher‘s Day by touching the lives of more than 200 under privileged children in its ‘Whatte Fun‘ style!
