  • Aamir Khan gets reminiscent about his childhood on 'Zindagi Live'

Submitted by ITV Production on Dec 19, 2007

MUMBAI: This week‘s episode of ‘Zindagi Live‘, IBN 7‘s popular talk show, celebrates the innocence and wonders of childhood with none other than Aamir Khan. Appearing before an audience comprised of children alone, Khan takes a walk down memory lane and candidly shares anecdotes of when he was little. What‘s more, the tiny tots excitedly ask him questions about his upcoming film, ‘Taare Zameen Par‘, his past movies, and even present him with a number of gifts that they made especially for him. Don‘t miss this unforgettable Christmas special on December 22 at 10 am & 8 pm, December 24 at 12:30 pm and December 25 at 12 pm only on IBN 7.

After proving his mettle as accomplished actor and producer, Aamir Khan has now taken the next big step of becoming a director. And for his directorial debut he has chosen a subject that is particularly close to his heart - children. ‘Taare Zameen Par‘ is the story of a young boy who is special in an unconventional way and whose interests, elders around him, fail to understand. Speaking on ‘Zindagi Live‘, Khan shares the reasons and the inspirations behind such a story choice and the need to put himself in their shoes to understand them as best as he could. While reminiscing about his childhood, he is surprised by his schoolteacher - whom he hasn‘t seen in over twenty years.

After being bombarded with questions from the young audience about everything from ‘Taare Zameen Par‘ to re-enacting eating a fish (as he had done in ‘Dil Chahta Hai‘) Khan takes on the role of a Santa and distributes sweets amongst the thrilled children.

"Zindagi Live is a show that captures the real emotions of life - the adversities, the joys, the celebrations and the sorrows. This episode of Zindagi Live is particularly special because it sees one of Bollywood‘s biggest stars reminisce about his childhood and share them candidly with an audience of children." Said Ashutosh, Managing Editor, IBN 7.

  • Watch M S Amma, a Shy Girl from Madurai on NDTV 24x7 'Documentary 24x7'

Submitted by ITV Production on Dec 19, 2007

MUMBAI: This week on Documentary 24x7, Swati Thyagarajan narrates the heartfelt story of her grandmother, arguably India‘s most famous artist, M.S. Subbalakshmi. ?M S Amma, a Shy Girl from Madurai? is unlike the innumerable documentaries made on the lady titled Nightingale of India by Sarojini Naidu. This film is not just a biography but personal childhood reminisces of "a very soft speaking voice that belonged to a very soft person" for a grand-daughter.

The film brings out the two facets of Meera and M S Subbalakshmi- one spent her life dancing for Krishna while the other singing to him. One came from Rajput royalty, taking its pride and courage but broke its oppressive hold, the other came from the Devdasi tradition, took its sense of service and devotion but rose above its stigma separated by 600 years. And yet they seem connected.

  • Zee Cinema's 'Meri Duniya' contest winners have a ball interacting with Aamir Khan

Submitted by ITV Production on Dec 18, 2007

MUMBAI: It was a dream come true for the winners of Zee Cinema?s ?Meri Duniya? creative painting contest when they got a chance to interact with their idol Aamir Khan on Saturday at Mehboob Studio.

As part of the contest, the young ones had sent in paintings of their little ?duniya? to Aamir and he had personally handpicked the most impressive entries.

Nostalgic about his younger days, the superstar also played a game with the children called ?Pass Ya Fail? that had him perform a cute dare each time he couldn?t answer one of their questions. Accompanied by their mothers who were equally eager to catch a glimpse of their teenage heartthrob, the children thronged Aamir with requests to do his Taare Zameen Par ?Bam Bam Bole? jig. Not the man to let down a bunch of bright-eyed kids, Aamir relented and shook a leg amidst much cheering. The little ones were in splits when they heard him speak sweetly in a girl?s voice as a part of the game. When it was time for the kids to do their dares, Aamir came alive seeing them try his tongue-twister ?Pake ped pe paka papita?, run in slow motion, sing and dance to his hit numbers, imitate him as he cried and even get blindfolded to search for him as he playfully hid amongst the kids!

Aamir delighted the kids by taking keen interest in their paintings. Floored by the maturity of thought that had gone into making them, he lauded the kids saying, ?When I was your age, I wasn?t half as smart as you.? Turning to the moms, he added, ?Children never fail to amaze me. Through out the making of Taare Zameen Par, I have learnt so much about kids. It is the environment that surrounds you in your childhood that shapes who you are as an adult. Give your kids the best because they deserve no less?. The interaction ended with Aamir presenting the children with special gifts he had brought along.

To catch this lively interaction with Aamir Khan, tune into his blockbuster Ishq on Zee Cinema at 8:30 pm on Thursday, 20th December.

The interaction will be telecast during the commercial breaks of the film.
