• Film Aloo Chaat is sixty percent complete

    MUMBAI: Aloo Chaat produced by Mirchi Movies Limited, a subsidiary of Times Infotainment Media Limited (A Times Group Company) and Actor Anuj Saxena‘s production house Maverick Productions Pvt. Ltd. in association with Berlian films has completed its Mumbai schedule and the film is sixty percent complete.The second and final schedule is in Delhi from 24 March. The film had gone on the floors last month and stars debonaire Aftab Shivdasani and beautiful Aamna Shariff. Robby Grewal, who had directed Mera Pehla Pehla Pyar (MP3) and Samay is directing Aloo Chaat.

    RDB and Samirrudin are working on the film‘s music. They are also composing some of the songs for Akshay Kumar‘s Singh is King. RDB gained immense popularity with the famous track Aaja Mahi. A special song composed by them with Punjabi flavour has been shot recently.

    Says Munish Purii, COO of Mirchi Movies Limited, "Aloo Chaat‘s Mumbai schedule has gone well and we are looking forward to the Delhi schedule. So far the film has been shot remarkably".

    Says Anuj Saxena, CEO of Maverick Production, "The film is shaping up quite well. The on-screen chemistry between Aftab and Aamana is good. They suit the roles perfectly. The second schedule is in Delhi and is the final schedule".

  • NDTV sweeps the Transparency International India Awards for anti corruption stories in electronic journalism

    MUMBAI: NDTV swept the Transparency International India (TII) awards ceremony held in the city on March 15, 2008 by winning, both the Gold and the Silver category awards in electronic media for "excellence in exposing corruption", by its ace journalists Poonam Agarwal and Sidharth Pandey. Their stories, ‘BMW Expose‘ and ‘Mined to Death‘ were telecast on NDTV‘s flagship news channels NDTV 24x7 and NDTV India.

    NDTV‘s Special Correspondent Poonam Agarwal and Cameraperson Deepak Verma won The Rai Bahadur M.S Oberoi Media Award for the year 2007 in the Gold category for ‘BMW expose‘ story. Poonam‘s story exposed the nexus between the prosecution and defense lawyer to win over the key witness in the infamous BMW hit-and-run case. The ‘BMW Expose‘ telecast for the first time on May 30, 2007, revealed the corruption prevailing in the judiciary and had a huge impact. The Delhi High Court issued suo motto cognition against both the lawyers, Mr. R.K. Anand and Mr. I.U. Khan.

    The Rai Bahadur M S Oberoi Media Award for the year 2007 in the Silver category was bagged by NDTV‘s Chief Correspondent(Investigation) Sidharth Pandey and Cameraperson Deepak Verma for their story ‘Mined to Death‘. This was a special investigation story which tracked illegal miners at work across the three states of Delhi, Haryana and Rajasthan. Following the expose UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi wrote to the Haryana government to file a status report. The Supreme Court‘s Central Empowered Committee (CEC) has termed the revelations as serious violations of law and a threat to forests and ecology of the areas in the report. It is studying the report for further action.

    Transparency International India is the Indian Chapter of Berlin based-Transparency International, a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization committed to curbing corruption at the national level through its national chapters, and countering corruption in international business transactions, through systematic changes. Transparency International India (TII) and The Oberoi Group have instituted two separate annual journalism awards named The Rai Bahadur M.S. Oberoi Media Awards ? one each for print and electronic media, for excellence in stories exposing corruption in India.
