    MUMBAI: They are both phenomenal talents. They are both would-be superstars. But which American Idol finalist ? David Archuleta or David Cook ? will be crowned the winner? Be among the first to find out when Star World brings you the Season Finale LIVE on Thursday, 22 May at 8 pm.

    Held at LA?s famed Nokia Theater, the two-hour finale is expected to produce one of the closest results in Idol?s seven-year history. In one corner is David Archuleta, the teen prodigy whose moving semifinal rendition of John Lennon?s ?Imagine? set a benchmark for the rest of the season.

    He will be competing for the title against David Cook, a rocker whose soulful reworking of Mariah Carey?s ?Always Be My Baby? and Michael Jackson?s ?Billie Jean? earned raves from the Idol judges and turned the 25-year-old into the competition?s frontrunner.

    While Archuleta and Cook go head to head, fans can also look forward to seeing this year?s Top 12 reunite for the last time. Before America?s votes are revealed, the two-hour celebration will also feature special performances and surprise guests.

  • Last chance to nominate enterprising and innovative projects for World Challenge 08

    MUMBAI: Companies, communities and enterprising individuals around the world have until Saturday 31 May to enter projects and small businesses that have shown enterprise and innovation into the global competition World Challenge 08.

    BBC World News has teamed up with Newsweek and Shell for the fourth World Challenge, to identify and reward people and groups that bring economic and social benefits to their local communities.

    Last year a record 942 nominations were received from 99 countries worldwide. Winning project T?ikapapa ? a Peruvian project set up to bridge the gap between Andean farmers and the potato market ? was presented with a US$20,000 grant from Shell to further develop their initiative.

    This year each nomination must fall under one of the following categories: Community Welfare and Enterprise; Health and Education; Sustainable Farming; Energy; Water and Environment.

    Nominations must be submitted through the new look World Challenge 08 website at www.theworldchallenge.co.uk. A panel of judges will then shortlist the entries down to the 12 best examples of community-based projects or businesses.

    BBC World News will then produce six 30-minute programmes profiling the 12 finalists showing how their projects and businesses are changing lives. These programmes will be broadcast to the channel?s global audience in October and November 2008, and the channel?s viewers will be invited to vote online for their favourite project or business.

    Newsweek will mirror the programmes? content in a six-part series of advertorials on the 12 nominees, aimed at driving its readers to the online voting site. The campaign will reach one million weekly readers across Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia and Latin America.

    The winners of World Challenge 08 will be announced at an awards ceremony in The Hague in December 2008 with the ceremony shown on BBC World News and detailed in Newsweek in the same month.

    MUMBAI: Even as Yash Raj Films goes from strength to strength garnering accolades and affection from audiences around the world, the new kid on the Yash Raj block is making big strides as well. YRF Ad Cell, the specialty in-house advertising division of Yash Raj Films, won the prestigious RAPA award for "Campaign of the Year" on TV (The S.S. Oberoi Trophy) for the Dish TV campaign featuring Shah Rukh Khan. The ad was directed by Arjun Sablok. This was the fourth RAPA for Arjun at YRF Ad Cell, the earlier three for Dabur Hajmola, Dabur Chyawanprash and the Dhoom music video with Tata Young.

    Clearly, when it comes to the business of moving images, whether they be on the big screen or small, entertainment , advertising or both, Yash Raj Films continues to set the benchmarks for creativity.

Abhijeet Sawant, Ishmeet, Rahul Vaidya, Rooprekha, Himani and Prajakta are thrilled to meet Robbie, the Rockstar. The Champions sings the Star Parivaar Anthem for Robbie while he pretends to be the judge. The new kids on the block promise to showcase an amazing performance on the Awards night.

  • Amrita TV calls for entries of 2nd season of Super Star Junior

    MUMBAI: Amrita TV is set to launch the second season of its popular music talent hunt,"Super Star Junior."

    The channel has invited the entries from across the country including the Middle East for children in the 10-15 years.

    Auditions for "Super Star Junior-2" will be held at various centres which will be chaired by an eminent panel of jury.

    In an attempt to showcase a complete stage performer, the reality show will discover and nurture talent among kids through a process which involves extensive grooming and mentoring sessions by experts.
