• Dhaaba owner 'Ashu' wins MTV Hero Honda Roadies 5.0!

Submitted by ITV Production on May 26, 2008

MUMBAI: MTV Hero Honda Roadies 5.0 - the baap of all rides meets its end at Kuala Lumpur and Ashutosh Kaushik, the seedha-saadha village boy was declared the ultimate Roadie! The exhilarating journey which began with a big bang in Goa finishes off with an explosion in Malaysia where the most laid-back no non-sense guy turned out to be one of the ultimate schemers of MTV Hero Honda Roadies 5.0.

This small town ‘dhaba-wala‘ went through three rounds of auditions in Delhi, Lucknow and finally Jaipur where he was chosen on account of his astounding ape-like antics. The simpleton thought airports had platforms and was unsure whether he‘d get food on the flight! Along with the Thai-boxing escapade he was the only Roadie who got away with not eating the nauseating oriental fare. Love at first sight was just a village fairy tale till he set his eyes on fellow Roadie, Sonel! So at the end of it, third-time-lucky Aashu had first-hand luck all the way. Even though he wore his heart on his sleeve, his mind was on the game and feet on the ground, showing true Roadie spirit all through the journey! Says Ashish Patil, General Manager MTV India and VP Creative & Content, "After a 16 week long grueling journey full of action, adventure, fights, betrayals, drama, accidents, romance, jealousy across 3 countries - MTV Hero Honda Roadies 5.0 reached its climax. Where two friends fought it out to find the last Roadie standing. This has by far been the most explosive season of Roadies!"

Comments an ecstatic Ashu, "Roadies ne mujhe joh sikhaya hai woh mein apni puri zindagi mein nahi seekh paata. Duniya ki sair bhi ho gayi aur naye dost bhi ban gaye!"

The Roadies have come a long way with the hard-hitting reality of dangerous tasks and even more dodgy contestants. Every vote-out was a bitch-fest, filled with back-stabbing and lying. In the midst of all the bogus comradeships and phony flirt-trips there did surface friendships, bhaicharis and a whole lot of love stories!

Says Raghu, AVP, Shows-MTV, "Throughout the journey crafty schemes, devious plots and blatant deception all lived in harmony. Roadies is a reality show that not only tests how strong you are physically but also mentally. This is time around the tasks were more dangerous and the game more twisted and Aashu outsmarted them all!"

MTV Hero Honda Roadies 5.0 showed an astounding 60% increase in viewing, rating over this season and has a fan following of over 1,50,000 members on Orkut and 13,000 members on Facebook. The mere popularity of Roadies has generated an underground cult following that discusses each Roadies Episode, contestants, the task and much more. MUMBAI: Zayo Bandwidth, a provider of fiber-based bandwidth solutions, has selected Infinera (Nasdaq: INFN) for its regional network in the Northeastern U.S. Infinera will bring the speed, responsiveness and flexibility of an Infinera Digital Optical Network to Zayo?s business, giving Zayo contiguous service from Chicago to New York and Washington, DC.

Based in Louisville, Colorado, Zayo Bandwidth, a Zayo Group business, operates regional networks in the Northeast, Midwest, Minnesota and the Memphis, Tennessee area. Zayo offers a wide range of telecom services including private line, Ethernet, wavelength, Internet and colocation services to customers in the telecom, enterprise and government sectors and other bandwidth-intensive organizations. Zayo has raised more than $340 million in private equity and debt financing to support an aggressive plan to provide telecom services in selected regional markets where demand is growing rapidly.

Zayo has deployed Infinera in the busy northeastern corridor from New York to Washington, DC as well as interconnecting Chicago to the east coast to serve the increasing bandwidth requirements of its customers. Zayo chose Infinera because the Infinera Digital ROADM offers high capacity and integrated, reconfigurable switching, enabling Zayo to provision or reconfigure bandwidth quickly and cost-effectively.

The Infinera DTN system is based on Infinera?s innovative large-scale photonic integrated circuits (PICs), which integrate more than 60 optical devices on a pair of chips, to enable an optical system with 100 Gigabits/second (Gb/s) of capacity on every line card. The PIC-based system enables Infinera?s Bandwidth Virtualization, an architecture where a wide range of services, from 1 Gb/s to 10 Gb/s today, and 40 Gb/s and 100 Gb/s services in the future, can be quickly provisioned and reconfigured from a pool of readily available bandwidth which is installed in 100 Gb/s increments.

The Infinera DTN is a Digital ROADM for long-haul and metro core networks, combining high-capacity DWDM transport, integrated digital bandwidth management, and GMPLS-powered service intelligence in a single platform.
