MUMBAI: In 13 years of history of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, for the very first time there has been a change in the format of the show. Now every week all the singers from all the gharana?s will perform and there will be four eliminations every week. This sort of an arrangement is also very appropriate from the SMS point of view as well, wherein the viewers will also have a better tuning to the show and the participants. This decision was taken post a heated argument between the judges because the format, they felt was not conducive to selecting the best participant amongst some exceptional singers. Viewers would forget about the singers from one week to the next since whoever sang in the current week would be top of mind. Now all the participants will sing over two episodes and 4 will be eliminated per week!!! This comes as a surprise since the format has stayed the same for the last 13 years. Sa Re Ga Ma Pa is currently in its 14th year had had Himmesh Reshamiya, Shankar Mahadevan, Adesh Shrivastava and Pritam as the mentors. Aditya Narayan is the host of the show.

Hero Honda Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2009 is a musical reality show that extends beyond just the participants. It is a contest between four musical maestros! 32 contestants selected from across 5 regions and 25 countries, who compete with each other under the guidance of the four mentors.
