MUMBAI: Amrita TV?s agriculture based programme ?Haritabharatam? has won the Department of Agriculture, Government of Kerala?s ?Harita Mudra? Award for the best Farm Based Video Programme on Malayalam Television for the year 2007-2008.
Harithabharatam won the inaugural ?Harita Mudra Award? which was instituted this year by the State Goverment ; it was also the only TV programme to be awarded for 2007-2008.
The Harita Mudra Awards which form part of the State Agricultural Awards, was instituted to recognise the best TV programme which deals with the latest developments and new topics in agriculture that are of contemporary relevance to Indian farmers.
Agro-based programmes of seven channels including that of the State-run Doordarshan were in the fray for the award.
Amrita TV?s Harithabharatam stole a march over the others not only for its high quality and information-rich content, but also for the consistent contributions it made to the farming community since its inception.
The programme showcases inspirational stories and tales of success in agro-based ventures. It takes us through the less-travelled roads of India, focusing on the farming community where we learn the crop patterns, weather changes and farming techniques.
When Amrita TV was launched in April 2005, Harithabharatam was one of its launch programmes and telecast Monday to Wednesday at 9 am-- it is now into its 251st continuous episode.
The prestigious Harita Mudra Award was given away by the Kerala Chief Minister Shri.VS Achuthanandan, at a function organized by the State Agricultural Department, in August 2008.
