• Adlabs cinemas roots for girl child education through a special csr initiative

    MUMBAI: As part of its corporate social responsibility initiative, Adlabs Cinemas, part of the Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group and India‘s leading entertainment conglomerate Adlabs Films, today announced a special initiative to support the cause of literacy of the girl child.

    The company has joined hands with Nanhi Kali, an NGO which supports and spreads awareness on the issue of education of the disadvantaged girl child in India. As part of the initiative, Adlabs will introduce a special food combo called the "Classroom Combo" - a certain percentage of the sales of which will be contributed to this cause of nurturing a girl child‘s education.

    Tushar Dhingra, COO - Adlabs Cinemas commented on the initiative saying, "The status of women is a key indicator of the wellbeing of our society and this is Adlabs‘ small way of lending our support to nurturing the Girl Child. We are happy to partner with Nanhi Kali in this meaningful initiative."

    Sheetal Mehta, Executive Director - Nanhi Kali said, "Project Nanhi Kali is today extending the opportunity of education, to over 43,000 under privileged girl children from poor urban, remote rural and tribal communities in India. We believe that it through education of the girl child that we can effectively deal with many of the developmental problems we are facing as a country today. We appreciate the initiative by Adlabs in helping create awareness for the cause and increase funds for our endeavour Nanhi Kali."

    Adlabs Cinemas is the largest cinema chain in India and presently has 181 screens spread over 70 properties nationwide. It is also building up a sizable international presence, having recently acquired majority interest in Malaysia-based Lotus Five Star Cinemas, and will be operating a 51 screen cinema chain in Malaysia. The international network, in addition to Malaysia, also includes 221 screens covering the East, Mid West and West Coast of USA as also Mauritius and Nepal. It was the first to introduce entertainment destinations to India such as the IMAX experience at the largest dome theatre in the world, 6D cinema and has also pioneered the concept of megaplexes.
