  • Malaysian MotoGP live on Ten Sports

Submitted by ITV Production on Oct 17, 2008

MUMBAI: Valentino Rossi will be hoping to rekindle his love for the Sepang circuit where he has won four titles, but a confident Casey Stoner will definitely make his work that much harder when the last non-European race of the MotoGP season visits Malaysia this weekend.

But Rossi, who secured his eighth World title with a fifth consecutive 2008 race win in Japan, will look to finish an extremely successful season on a high note with a win, and Ten Sports, the most watched sports channel of the sub-continent, will be there to bring all the action live from the Malaysian Grand Prix.

It will be another morning start for racing enthusiasts in the subcontinent, with the live telecast starting at 10:00 am IST on Sunday, October 19.

Rossi, who crashed in the qualifying and started 12th on the grid in Australia, did well enough to take the second place ? his 149th visit to a Grand Prix podium which leaves him just ten short of the all-time record held by Giacomo Agostini, whom he also robbed of the all-time premier class win record earlier this season.

However, Rossi is expecting another strong challenge in Malaysia from the Aussie Stoner, who was the winner in Sepang last year.

Rossi said: ?I have had some great races in Malaysia in the past, and it generally suits our bike very well. So, with any luck, we can look forward to a fun weekend. That said, we know that Casey will be very strong again as well as others. It will no doubt be a good battle!?

Following his hometown win in Australia, Stoner heads to Malaysia in a buoyant mood, determined to finish the season on a good note before his end-of-year surgery on his wrist, which has caused him significant discomfort during races.

The Ducati rider said: ?Over the last few rounds, we?ve managed to set a good pace in all of the dry practice sessions and struggled a little bit in the wet. We think we found a good wet setting in Australia so unless there?s an unexpected problem that crops up, we should be okay for any conditions at Sepang.?

With his 36-point advantage over Danni Pedrosa, Stoner could finalise his runner-up place in the standings on Sunday.

The Sepang International Circuit is a 4,448m long track constructed in just 14 months to hold its first Grand Prix back in 1999. Four slow corners follow two long straights and ten medium to high speed corners at a wide track made for overtaking, and one of the longest laps in MotoGP is made all the more grueling by Sepang?s tendency for intense heat and humidity.
