MUMBAI: ‘Slumdog Millionaire‘ which is making waves across the world for winning The Golden Globe and being nominated for the Oscars, was awarded with Global Excellence of the Year Award at the recently held NDTV Indian of the Year Awards 2008 in New Delhi. The cast and crew of the film including Director Danny Boyle; Co-Director & Casting Director Loveleen Tondon; and Actor Anil Kapoor were present at the ceremony to receive the award.

Danny Boyle on the response to the film

Danny Boyle: I am delighted that Omar Abdulla hasn‘t seen the film yet ? only illegal copies are available until Friday(he said jokingly)? thank you for the hospitality you have shown us all in making this film. It has had an extraordinary reception and exceptional response in the United States, especially where it has been playing for three months and we were very fortunate to win 4 Golden Globes including one for the great man AR Rahman and I don‘t know you have to cross your fingers(for the Oscars).

Comments on Amitabh Bachchan‘s criticism about the film

Anil Kapoor: I think Danny should be the right person, because speaking about Amitabh ..you know..i am sorry

Danny: I think I am very lucky to have made a film here and part of that privilege is to listen to any part of criticism and learn to accept it as a film maker actually. I have to say.. this is an extraordinary nation, it can empower, lead the world and you are going to have a lot of people say a lot of things about you. You are a big huge nation with huge capacities. With love I would say Thank you for this..

On Indian production house not been able make a film on the subject

Loveleen: Well you know I have spoken to Vikas(Swarup) about the release because I have heard?when Danny Boyle came to India to make the film, that there was a film being made on ‘Q & A‘. I then sort of tried to know more about it and realized it that Sriram Raghavan, a very talented Mumbai film maker was trying to buy the rights before the film began and before script started to happen. But the rights had already been bought by Tessa Ross who then collaborated and got Simon (Beaufoy) on board and then wrote the script. So yes people did try to buy but the rights had already gone. Just like his second novel the ‘Six Suspects‘, a lot of Indians have tried to buy the rights of that as well but that‘s also gone.

MUMBAI: Chose to be the change you want to see. In the aftermath of the terrible terror attacks on this city, there was an outpour of anger and frustration towards the authorities. Red FM with its ‘Awaaz Uthate Raho‘ initiative, threw open its airwaves for listeners to express their anger and provided a platform for them to raise questions that they wanted answered by the people responsible for the security lapses.

This republic day, MPs Priya Dutt and Milind Deora will be on Red FM‘s Morning Show, Morning No.1 with Malishka for a Republic Day special, where they will not only address all the questions that have been raised but also update the citizens of Mumbai on the changes that have been implemented and the progress so far.

Commenting on the Awaaz Uthate Raho Initiative, National Marketing Head and Station Head, Mumbai, Anuj Singh, said, "As responsible members of this society and as a mass radio station, RED FM will live up to its responsibility towards Mumbai city and will continue to act as a pressure group raising people‘s voices to the right authorities. Let‘s resolve to be the change we want to see!"
