• Threatened Tiger ready to strike back live on Ten Sports

Submitted by ITV Production on Mar 26, 2009

MUMBAI: Ten Sports, the most watched sports channel in the Sub-continent, will telecast live a completely new challenge faced by World No1 Tiger Woods when he tries to defend his title at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

The Arnold Palmer Invitational, hosted by ?The King? himself, is one of the most respected events on the PGA Tour, and played annually at the demanding Bay Hill Club & Lodge course in Orlando, Florida.

The tournament, which offers a total purse of $6 million, also features Indian superstar Jeev Milkha Singh, who recently finished fourth in the World Golf Championship?s CA Championship. Live telecast on Ten Sports starts 12:30 am IST on Friday, March 27.

Woods won last year in dramatic fashion by one stroke over Brad Bryant, but only after he drained an impossible-looking 24-footer putt for birdie on the final hole.

But the five-time winner of the tournament ? Woods has never missed playing the Arnold Palmer Invitational as a professional ? goes into the third tournament after his comeback from an eight-month injury layoff with the crown of being the best golfer in the world at stake.

Woods has been No1 in the world for 198 consecutive weeks, but the eight months away from the game after reconstructive knee surgery are taking a toll and the chasing groups has almost eaten into the lead, which looked insurmountable last year.

No2 Phil Mickelson trails Woods by 0.2 points in the rankings (8.86 to 8.66), and can become the new No1 if he wins next week?s Shell Houston Open and Woods fails to win the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Mickelson, who has never been No1, is off this week.

Also of interest is the return of three-time Major championship winner Padraig Harrington, who is playing in Bay Hill for the first time since missing the cut in 2000. After a slow start to his 2009 season on the PGA Tour (two missed cuts and a first-round loss at the Accenture Match Play), he is looking to gain momentum as the Masters nears.

Jeev is looking forward to another good finish before the Masters, which starts April 9, in an attempt to win enough money from the limited number of starts he has on the PGA Tour which can help him secure his US card for 2009.

?My confidence is up and I hope to play well in Arnold Palmer?s tournament. I played here in 2007, but it was a forgettable outing and I missed the cut. I aim to do much better than that this week,? said the Indian star.

However she states she doesn?t look perfect all the time when she is not shooting she is normally in a ponytail, tracks and Tshirts . A sincere worker and dedicated to her profession ,she values the huge money involved in film making as well as hard earned money of the audiences who watch her films. A very valuable trait in a star of her stature!

Her take on roles where her male costars are younger than her, she is least perturbed She is of the opinion that good work replaces all those presumptions and cities Bachna Ae Haseeno where her pairing with Ranbir Kapoor was a complete hit despite the age gap.

Her forthcoming film Aa Dekhen Zara where she is paired opposite Neil Nitin Mukesh did make her feel that he looked really like a young boy. However all her fears were put to rest when she saw him on screen as she felt that he has great screen presence and magnifies it to such an extent that it overshadows any other trivialities. She is appreciative and modest and realistic.

Attempting deglamorised roles like Apharan and Corporate is the urge of an artist to try offbeat cinema which she feels is essential. She has tried all sorts of roles and genres and has 50 films to her credit. A very versatile artist and yet is an integral part of commercial cinema. • MEHRAJUDDIN visits BIG 92.7 FM, SRINAGAR
    to promote the film 'Sikandar'

Submitted by ITV Production on Mar 26, 2009

MUMBAI: On Wednesday listeners of BIG 92.7 FM Srinagar had a treat as the child playback singer - Mehrajuddin, who has sung a song in the forthcoming co-production by BIG Pictures & Sudhir Mishra‘s production house -CineRaas Ltd ‘Sikandar‘, hosted a live on-air show along with RJ Sophie and RJ Haya. The RJs and Mehrajuddin kept the listeners hooked to the stations by singing songs in every link. Mehrajuddin sang the song - ‘Aarzoo‘ from the film which is a ‘Naat‘ (a traditional hymn sung in School assemblies in J&K). He is a 12 year old school boy discovered by film director - Piyush Jha during his hunt for the film location in Kashmir.

BIG 92.7 FM, India‘s No 1 Radio Station, played host to this child protagonist and created a platform for the people of Srinagar to interact with this ‘star in the rising‘. To make his visit all the more interesting, BIG FM will air his interview live on radio and will also give an opportunity to the listeners to interact with this special child.

Music is everywhere; if that is to be believed, writer & director Piyush Jha just proved it right in his next film ‘Sikandar‘. Set to release in April 2009 the film is set in Kashmir and is based on human side of terrorism, which compelled Piyush Jha to maintain the authenticity in every possible way; even in music.

Mehrajuddin is a 12 year old boy, discovery of the director. Piyush Jha found him during one of his location hunting tour to Kashmir. Looking out for school location landed Piyush in the school where a morning assembly was going on and Mehrajuddin was singing the Naat. Piyush describes this as one of his heavenly experiences as the boy sung with his eyes closed and one hand obediently placed on his chest, communicating with the god as the song echoed in the mountains. Piyush immediately decided to make room for this Naat and the boy in his film. A special sequence is written featuring the boy singing the song in the backdrop fitting perfectly in the film.
Speaking about this occasion, Mr. Syed Jafery - Station Director, BIG 92.7 FM - Sringar said, "Mehrajuddin has made this city proud with his achievement and hence, we as Srinagar‘s No.1 FM station decided to play a host to this budding talent so that he can reach out to all. I am sure people of Srinagar will be thrilled to have this special child with them at their favourite FM station."

Mehrajuddin belongs from a very traditional Kashmiri family, where he helps his father run his pony riding business and studying in the local school; completely disconnected from the film world. The boy never had singing aspirations until Piyush Jha perused him and his family to let him sing the song.

The other songs are Dhoop Ke Sike written by Prasoon Joshi and composed by Shankar-Ehsaan Loy. Another song is by lyricist Neelesh Misra paying a tribute to the famous Pakistani poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz by taking the opening mukda from his famous ghazal ‘Gulon Mein‘, and has penned two new versions. The song has two versions, a slow serene version by music director Justin-Uday and an upbeat version by music director Sandesh Shandilya. The old ghazal is deftly modernized with the use of contemporary singers like Mohit Chauhan and KK and using western orchestration to make the entire experience relevant to these times.

Yash Narvekar & Hrishikesh Kamerkar set a spiritual mood with ‘Allah Hoo‘ as lyricist Kumar precisely depicts Sikandar‘s quest for finding the right path. A peppy number ‘Manzaraat‘ is based on traditional Kashmiri folk music sung in Mehndi functions in Kashmir, sung by Shilpa Rao, adds zing to the album. The album concludes with the youthful song ‘Chaal Apni‘ sung by Hrishikesh Kamerkar & Hamsika pulling together a great album which offers a spectrum of emotions and a journey of lifetime.
