    MUMBAI: Radio Mirchi listeners got a chance to say ?Hadippa? with the gorgeous Rani Mukherjee who visited the studio today.

    In yet another exciting contest aired by Mumbai?s hottest radio station, Radio Mirch ? 98.3 FM, invited its listeners to simply give meanings of Punjabi words used in the film ?Dil Bole Hadippa? and get a chance to meet and interact with Rani on ?Sunset Samosa? with RJ Suren.

    As part of the contest, Radio Mirchi RJ?s asked listeners to sms the meanings of Punjabi words that were heard in the songs of the film.

    RJ Sangeeta was also heard speaking with youngsters at popular hangout places and trying to extract the meanings of words such as ?batterr?, ?fukrre? and ?Chabbi ja?

    Cricket; Bhangra; Rani as Veer Singh; Rani as Veera Kaur and Shahid as Rani?s love interest!

    The movie promises to be nothing short of an entertainer, just like Radio Mirchi?s ?Hadippa? contest that turned out to be a laugh riot with listeners calling in and msging to give hilarious meanings and never heard before interpretations of Punjabi words.

    ?The film is beautifully crafted and is yet very simple, funny and sweet just like Radio Mirchi?s contest. I simply loved the ?Hadippa? contest that was run on air and found the meanings given by people of the word ?fukrre? extremely hilarious? said Rani.

    The movie which stars Rani playing the dual role of a Sardar boy and a young Punjabi girl, is touted to be the next big release, also starring current heartthrob Shahid Kapoor. It is scheduled to release later this month.

    Till then the music that is already topping charts with numbers like ?Discowale khisko?, ?Hadippa? and ?Bhangra bistar? can be heard on Mumbai?s hottest radio station.

  • Singer Rupankar visits Radio Misty studio

    MUMBAI: Noted Bengali singer Rupankar visited studio of the Number one fm station of North Bengal Radio Misty 94.3 fm at Siliguri. In an extensive interview that covered everything from his upcoming release to family Rupankar spoke all about it. Bringing a musical twist to the interview he sang his popular numbers.

    Music flows in my blood", Rupankar reminisces "From my childhood, I learnt classical vocal from my father Ritendra Nath Bagchi and at the same time, Rabindra Sangeet from my mother Smt. Sumitra Bagchi." "Soon I was ready for formal training from my Guru Sukumar Mitra in Classical Music and from Jatileswar Mukhopadhyay in Modern Songs." "My first stage performance was at the age of eleven, with my mother beside me." And thus the journey began through the rough water.

  • Otago Volts Champions League Squad Assemble

    MUMBAI: The Otago Volts Champions League Squad has assembled in Dunedin to begin preparations for the inaugural Champions League Twenty20 to be held in India between the 8th and 23rd of October.

    The twenty man squad minus those on BLACKCAPS duty (Brendon McCullum, Ian Butler, Neil Broom & Nathan McCullum) and Dimitri Mascarenhas and Neil Wagner (still overseas) began preparations with a meeting and fielding session at the University Oval on September 1. The squad of 20 will be trimmed to a travelling group of 15 on Friday the 4th of September, however all 20 will take part in preparations for the month of September.

    The squad have a busy schedule for the month of September with skills training at the Indoor High Performance Centre at the Edgar Centre and on the newly installed artificial surfaces at the University Oval. The team?s trainer, Chris Donaldson, will also be busy taking the team through and intense strength and conditioning programme.

    Practice matches start with internal fixtures amongst the squad in Oamaru on September 14 & 15 and continue with club cricket pre season Twenty20 games in Dunedin on September 19.

    Community Events also form a big part of the programme with an appearance at Carisbrook for the Otago vs Auckland game, a schools visit to North Otago, a local cricket road show featuring modified games of cricket at some high profile Dunedin?s locations, players present at all Dunedin Junior Cricket registrations and the farewell lunch with Sir Richard Hadlee as guest speaker in the Town Hall as examples of events in the programme.

    The squad will leave Dunedin for Brisbane on the 25th of September where they will play warm up games against the Queensland Academy and South Australia as well as having use of the Allan Border fields and facilities for a week of training. On the 2nd of October the squad will leave for India where they will have a further two warm up games in Hyderabad before their opening tournament game on the 10th of October.

    Otago Cricket CEO Ross Dykes said, "this is the start of what will be one of the most exciting eight weeks in the history of Otago Cricket. Our intention is twofold:
    to have a programme that will give the squad the very best preparation for a successful tournament against the world‘s best, and to give the players a sporting experience that will live with them long past their playing days."

    MUMBAI: Moving ahead in its mission of empowering India through its unique India First campaign, Zee News gained the support of Salman Khan, Boney Kapoor and Prabhudeva; who not only appreciated the efforts of the channel but also supported the initiative in its true spirit. In an attempt to reach out to citizens in the capital, the star cast of the forthcoming movie WANTED partnered Zee News to motivate and educate the populace to come together and forget all the differences to make India First.

    At an oath taking ceremony organised by the channel at Vijay Chowk, the celebrities interacted with the youth and formed a Human Chain to spread the message. Appealing to fellow citizens, Salman Khan said, ?I am an Indian. Nationalism is my religion ... WANTED responsible citizens who think about INDIA FIRST?.
