• The Idea MTV VJ Hunt is on, are you mad enough to be hunted?

    MUMBAI: The MTV Mad House announced the admissions for its fresh crop of patients. Yes, MTV is looking for a brand new bunch of mad VJs! The Idea MTV VJ Hunt is on, and if you think you have a personality that can keep people glued to their TV sets, here?s your big chance to prove it. MTV is looking VJs who can take MTV beyond Music and beyond Television. Kick-starting the auditions in Mumbai on 5th December, the Mad House hunters will round up the contenders from Chandigarh, Delhi, Lucknow, Kolkata and Bangalore on 8th, 11th, 14th, 18th, and 21st December respectively.

    The best things in life come packaged in MTV! From the queen of oomph VJ Malaika Arora to style gurus Nikhil Chinapa & Anusha, from the mad-house champions Jose, Cyrus Sahukar and the baap of all VJs, Cyrus Broacha, to the uber cool Rannvijay and the emo-goth Bani, from the girl next door Shenaz to the girl you wish you had next door Sophie, from the super talented Ayushmann to the bubbly VJ Rhea... MTV VJs have continued to lead and reflect MTV?s young audience, being youth icons in their own right.

    Started way back in 1999, the MTV VJ Hunt has discovered talents including Nikhil Chinappa, Maria Goretti, Mini Mathur, Cyrus Sahukar, Anusha, Ramona and Sophie. And it is time now to hit the road again to add more madness to the MTV Mad House with the Idea MTV VJ Hunt.

    The auditions would be held at ?MTV Studios-Parel? in Mumbai on 5th December, ?Punjab Kala Bhavan-Sector 16? in Chandigarh on 8th December, ?British Council? in New Delhi on 11th December, ?Lal Bahadur Shastri Auditorium? in Lucknow on 14th December, ?Bhawanipore College? in Kolkata on 18th December and ?St. Joseph?s Indian High School? in Bengaluru on 21st December.

    After going though thousands of profiles in the audition phase, the shortlist would be down to 100 contestants. These shortlisted contestants will be made to do various tasks over 3 weeks on mtvindia.com. Based on their performance, the list would be brought down to 10. The 10 finalists will compete on-air by hosting various MTV shows in the VJ Hunt Week, open to public voting. The Hunt would culminate with a grand on-air finale where the winners of the Idea MTV VJ Hunt 2009 would be announced.

  • IBN7 revisits the horrors of the Bhopal Gas Tragedy after 25 years

    MUMBAI: The Bhopal gas tragedy is recognized globally as the world?s worst industrial disaster. IBN7, India?s leading Hindi news channel, will commemorate the 25th anniversary of this calamitous event with special programming that will pay tribute to the thousands of people who lost their lives or were maimed for life in this horrific tragedy as well as examine the trauma of the survivors and the relatives of the victims. The special programming ?Bhopal 25 Saal Baad?, a special documentary on Dec 3rd at 10 PM and ?Zehreeli Zindagi? a two episodes series on the show Hindustan Ki Kasam will telecast on December 02 and December 03, 2009 at 5:30pm.

    The special programming ?Bhopal - 25 Saal Baad? will highlight the shattering reality of the Bhopal tragedy that shook the nation overnight. The show will feature an exclusive documentary that will bring forth the truth of the 25 year old tragedy and showcase what exactly happened on the fateful night that lead to world?s worst industrial disaster. The special show also focuses on the plight of the people who are living with the haunting memories of the tragedy and are still fighting for justice 25 years down the line.

    ?Zehreeli Zindagi? a two episode special on the show Hindustan Ki Kasam will deal with both the horrific after effects of the tragedy as well as the victims? continued fight for justice. The first episode will focus on the victims? manifold sufferings including chronic health problems, crippling after effects of exposure to the gas and deformities which are still prevalent amongst the people of Bhopal. The second episode will highlight the issues of compensations, and the delays by the government in providing justice to the victims. The show will also have as a guest Dr. DK Satpati popularly known as ?DOCTOR DEATH? who was the Chief Medical Officer who handled the medical crisis of that night and conducted around 4,000 autopsies of the dead victims, along with Rajkumar Keswani, a senior journalist of that time who had covered this massacre 25 years back and Swaraj Puri the then Superintendent of Police, Bhopal. Various other special stories will run on the channel through the day.

    Speaking about the special programming, Ashutosh, Managing Editor, IBN7 said, ?To remember Bhopal today means not just collecting information about the disaster and its aftermath, but also, empathizing with the victims, understanding the lessons to be learnt so that all such disasters can be avoided at all costs in the future.   • RED FM plays host to Amitabh Bachchan and Vidya Balan

    MUMBAI: Superstar Amitabh Bachchan visited Red FM studios to promote his eagerly awaited movie Paa. Vidya Balan who plays mother to Amitabh‘s character, Auro, was also in studio to talk about the movie. Mr.
    Bachchan‘s visit caused a minor upheaval near Red FM‘s office as desperate fans tried to catch a glimpse of their favourite actor.

    Amitabh Bachchan interacted with RJs Malishka, Mantra, Rohini and Tarun, and fielded questions from Happy Singh and Cookie. Mr. Bachchan and Vidya Balan also ate Khichdi, specially prepared by ISKCON‘s Food Relief foundation, in a gesture of support to Red FM‘s Bajaao for a Cause and ISKCON‘s School=Lunch midday meal activity. Bytes from Amitabh‘s and Vidya‘s interaction with the RJs will be played out over the course of this week.

    MUMBAI: Getting a taste of their ?switched? lifestyle, the rich contestants are as always ready to take on all the grueling tasks and do all they can to help fulfill the dream of their slum buddy. After cleaning auto-rickshaws and selling street in episode 6, the contestants are all geared up and looking forward to their tasks the next day. Watch as 10 rich and 10 poor contestants spend 14 weeks with each other, getting a taste of the ?other? side of life on the 7th episode of Bindass Big Switch this Saturday, 5th December, 7:00 p.m. only on UTV Bindass! .

    The rich contestants are woken up early and have a rather unusual task awaiting them! Siddarth, Pooja and Adam are given an address each; they have to go to different houses in the slum and get a child in there ready for school and drop them to the school bus. Being used to having hoards of servants looking after their every need, the rich contestants are taken aback when they realize that they have to bathe the child and dress them up as well. Watch on to see the three rich contestants scramble to get the kids ready and off to school, to come out on top of the morning task.
